All that training didn't help her, didn't it?
But but.......she took on a giant man in hand to hand combat and choked him out. :troll:
One kick to the stomach from the small mexican dude took her outta commission lol.

I don't care how buff she is if she can act like that. I'm gutted once again
Bingo. Seems like some would rather have a big muscle bound chick that cant act playing abby to be "faithful to the material" than someone that can act. With how stuff played out in the show, it seems her muscles werent even necessary.
It’s crazy because I’d think it would be easier to do with a TV show, but they’re treating it the opposite of how I would think HBO would handle it. Think Neil folded under the pressure and HBO was scared to let the audience sit in the emotions the game made them.

Imma have to play through that long ass game again to restore the feeling
I dont think it was Neil caving, it was probably Mazin, he the showrunner/running shyt. Has the tv experience and probably felt they had to do it this way. I didnt play the game, but the show audience would get annoyed with seeing Abby's pov for 3 episodes for extended amounts of w/o knowing her motives imo.
In the game, he never even found out who Abby was, she just fukking beath him to death - He never even knew why.

More heart wrenching in that version.

He kinda just came to terms with it in this version.

I loved both.
Spoiler tag it if need be, but how did she know she had the right Joel if she didnt talk to him about why she was doing it?

They knew his height, skin color, cut on face acquired on the night he killed them all, ect.

They want an EXACT 1:1 recreation or its TRASH.
Can’t speak for everybody, but I’m not a nikka asking for 1:1. I just say if you’re going to depart from the source material, add something to it. They’re subtracting the emotional journey from the audience following the characters by laying out Abby’s character and motivations before you even see who she is.

There’s no shock factor to Joel’s death when you know she’s coming for Joel from jump and is set up to be a major character already, plus the nikka is in therapy and being set up to be the sympathetic character. Anymf who’d watched anything knows when they set up the sympathetic character, they’re not for long.

You get exposition dump in his scene, rather than the “show don’t tell” that makes for better media, to the point even the show itself says STFU and get it over with.

All of this is just typical TV you can get from any decent drama. The story stood out because it did things differently, not because it was a typical drama.

Not even gonna get into Abby not being an intimidating character whatsoever (not even only with her physique, even tho that’s a microcosm of her insecurity and obsession with Joel), and Ellie showing no emotional subtlety this season in her complicated feelings towards Joel, so they have to actually tell the audience “yea we gave our shyt but we’ll be good”.

In the game, Joel is out on patrol with Tommy, not Dina, they run into Abby during the storm/ infected like the show. Tommy then says Joels name and where they're from while saving Abby, she then alerts her crew.

Everyone being alerted to Joel’s name was done so well. They almost got it in this but they didin’t have that ominous drum kick in when it happened
