I love how some of the scenes are 1:1 recreations. That opening scene of the party gave me deja vu.

the "Joel" of the 2nd game and she had to be the muscle for her side of the story with Lev.

I'm actually interested in how they adapt that part because there's no way the do the Abby/Lev's portion 1 to 1 now.

Plus, the show is not about fending off infected. Every interaction with them in the TV show is basically death unless you have Ellie involved in it so having a female Brock Lesnar probably wasn't seen as a necessity. And human to human interaction can be solved with guns + the Black Widow gimmick they showed with Ellie in the first scene

Ellie was fukking up a 6ft 4 oaf in the beginning of the episode. Abby should not be a skinny ass bytch you see working at the orange Julius in the mall.

The whole point of that scene was showing that Ellie might think she's John Wick but the big fella let her win. They made it a point to tell the audience she would've been knocked the fukk out more than once if Jesse doesn't tell dude to go easy on Ellie.

Trying to avoid the backlash the game got for not being clear about Joel’s torture/death. i have a feeling the show is going to over-correct for how much the game trusted the viewers to understand the nuance behind it

Nah, it's because they didn't want to basically reset the story midway through the season. Remember in the game...

Abby kills Joel and then you spend half the game looking for her. Midway through it shows Abby's perspective after the encounter at the Theatre. There's no way they would have us have one whole season of Ellie then one whole season of Abby. Makes for a good game, but bad TV.

Now there's tension on what will happen for unknown viewers. Also, you gotta remember that the average viewer is also fukking dumb and we're still gonna get flashbacks.
