The incel cacs on the Last of Us 2 reddit going ballistic about the game :mjlol: The Last Of Us 2

Why are people doing the most right now about a $60 disc :dwillhuh: The things in the world to be genuinely outraged over and a videogame is what you wanna spend your energy on. There's also too much entertainment out there for you to not keep it moving if something disappoints

I thought Abby was a blonde, how come in the end she had black hair? When I got to that last part, I didn't even know it was Abby until after Ellie untied the boat and said let's fight I was like "wtf that's Abby!?"

Imagine if people put the writing of any Rockstar game under this much scrutiny? :russ:
How’s that GTA plot? Lol

It’s a video game where a 130 pound twenty-something slaughters hundreds of zombies, soldiers, and criminals single handed. There’s no need to over analyze anything beyond that.
I dont think I've ever seen a game's writing get put under this much scrutiny before

Another weird criticism iv seen is people not liking how quick/suddenly supporting characters like Jesse or manny get offed because they think it’s lazy and didn’t have enough impact, they loved Rockstar for it tho when they had half of your friends/camp get murdered in similar fashion in Red Dead 2, they were more fleshed out and likeable in Red Dead too
I'm a huge R* fan. I couldn't finish RDR2. The gameplay is terrible imo (played on pc), and within the 3 chapters i played, the story is just ok. I'm sure the story gets better as it progresses though. I will one day beat it, and i may love it (did that with Witcher 3). But i feel like fans of R* think they can do no wrong, and critics are afraid to give them anything lower than a 9 or 10. I don't go by metacritic, but a 97 for RDR2 :mindblown: I mean it's a pretty game, the score is :ohlawd: and they definitely worked hard on the game. But nah. From what i played, it's a 7\10. MGS 5 is overrated as well. Everyone has their own opinion though. Some people feel how i feel about RDR2, about TLOU2.

Unpopular opinion: The Witcher 3, and The Last of Us Part II>Red Dead Redemption 2
Shyt... RDR1>RDR2

There's a few Rockstar fans on here that treat any critique of GTA or RDR as sacrilege and jump down your neck. I always felt like GTA and RDR games got a pass when they typically played like trash compared to other games. Like, the shooting mechanics as was the close quarters combat in GTA/RDR games are clunky as shyt yet people act like they're fine. I just cannot imagine someone playing a game like TLOU2 or MGSV and then thinking RDR2 is up there. Like what? Lol.

But I think though Last of Us is in special territory cuz that shyt was like The Sopranos of videogames in that it elevated the "artistic integrity" of the gaming medium as a viable storytelling platform. The writing for that game was on the level of an Oscar / Emmy winning script and that's the standard people are holding Part 2 by.

You can defend the writing in this game all you want but imo it really came down to character development and the pace of the game. I feel like they should’ve had both character campaigns play side by side instead of reaching the climax within the first 15 or so hours with Ellie all to just rewind to day one with Abby .:what:

to me that’s just shytty story telling along with the 10 hour side mission/character building of Abby. I just feel like ND fell flat creating the Salt Lake Crew didn’t care for them and they tried. All in all the game is dope as fukk if anyone has a ps4 they should definitely play it for themselves, everyone’s opinion is going to be the same on the story but the gameplay is really fun

Just finished 1st I have to say.

It's the BEST Triple A playstation game of this gen, hands down and it honestly might be the best triple A game of this gen for a lot of people.

With that said it has strong issues that could have been avoided all together that keep it from being a classic game imo.

Lets just get this out the way.

#1 The story: Now technically the story isn't bad but it feels all over the place. It really started to play out like mid to later seasons of The Walking dead where they just couldn't wrap up things and had 2-3 subplots going on while jumping from one to another only to random kill people and have people you thought die actually be alive. There is no reason for ellie or abby to have not killed each other at some point in that game. Although I can understand abby not killing to a certain extent... its just a reach and takes you out of the element and makes you think of how much everything else they've done is a reach also.

The game imo should have been a pick ellie or abby at the start, from there you get that story from that point of view like you did (tweaks) would have to be made) from there they could even of had multiple endings.

Or they should have just let you play abby 1st and then ellie, I understand that might be annoying to some, but it's no more annoying then joel getting killed out the gate

#2 The length of the game, usually longer games are great. However in the case of this game, after you finish ellie's main story I was pretty much ready for a conclusion. The game really drags, thankfully its FUN I enjoyed every moment of playing outside of stuff with Dina she was annoying, unnecessary and unlikable.

#3 Speaking of that....The push of agenda. Yeah she kissed her friend in the dlc when she was like what 13 or 14? But her have a love interest at all let alone with Dina seemed forced and out of placed. Also the fact that they WAIT to show you how they became a thing until the very end of the game doesn't make it any better. Almost every part of the game with her felt forced and fake, her and jesse break up and in to weeks she makes out with her friend who's his friend and they all cool :mjlol: I knew that guy was gonna die from the jump because of the love triangle. Also almost every character in this game is a woman which I don't have a problem with but it's really obvious that they wanted women to be represented. The same can't be said about black people tho:francis:

#4 The characters.... Part of the greatest of The 1st game was the characters all feel really or important, in this game they all felt like a back drop to push the main characters motive for revenge speaking of which I mentioned this in 3 but Jess was a goner as soon as I learned he was the exe. Yara also, and I figured lev would stick around because they are the new joel and ellie. I think I would have had been a bit more attached to abby's crew if her story was 1st and then ellies. Like i said I know they'd have to change some things around but it would have been better imo.

Overall the game could have easily been a 10/10 and classic if the story would have held up and it didn't drag on, and I feel bad giving it like a 8 because of the sheer amount of detail and how much of a work of art the game is. But I can understand someone saying it was a 6 or 7 for them if they can't appreciate the massive attention to detail and the world and how its build.

So yeah it's really one of the best games this gen, but it's not a 10/10 or even a 9/10 honestly. Where as gow 4 to me is easily a 10/10 game and hits all the marks. However I'd still probably rank tlous as a better over all experienced even though it's flawed and I have zero interest in playing anymore.

I could see where you play as Ellie only the first playthrough and more emphasis is placed on her struggles with being valuable to the world vs Joel. She gives up here life for a possible cure vs having the life experiences with Joel and other people. Some of this can be flashbacks triggered by the notes she reads along the journey to kill Abby. You kill Abby at the end and unlock the ability to play the campaign as Abby with emphasis on seeking revenge, dealing with her dad's murder, issues with Owen and relationship with Lev.

But her have a love interest at all let alone with Dina seemed forced and out of placed

What she was doing with her at their house at the end of the game. :martin:

This is the main issue I have with both games, the significant black characters don't have any triumph, they all die

It's all good. I give it a 9 because the aspects of the game that make it fun and replayable (graphics, gameplay, atmosphere, environments, difficulty customizations) are really good.
