Everybody is forgetting about the rumors of Ellie’s mom in this game..
She could be the potentially murdered person before Ellie..
After a short reunion..
Dina could be the “daughter” of David..
This is a game of “revenge”..
So I could definitely see Dina exacting revenge on killing Joel in front of her..
After getting close to Ellie..
Or..
The implied “rape” and murder is actually Dina..
Just three theories I have..

Pretty sure Ellie's "Mother" is actually her sister. Reason being is that the other woman is also fighting the same group as Ellie and she looks like she's in her early 30s/late 20s. Also we're going to be able to play as her. Joel dying makes sense because they cut together two different shots at the end of the trailer.

Spoiler: I`m just speculating

I think this new chick Dina is a renegade of some sort. Joel gets killed because of the group\cult Dina runs with. Ellie get`s revenge on Dina, and her group.


Joel is either in Ellie`s head, or what they showed is before he dies.

The logical side of me is saying Joel, and Ellie had a fallen out (there may be a playable flashback of Ellie finding out Joel lied to her in TLOU1, and she resents him afterwards). Ellie`s girl Dina is murdered by some group. Tommy maybe tells Joel what Ellie is planning. Joel joins her on a suicide mission to avenge Dina because he still cares about Ellie.

I think there`s way more variables to the story we don`t know. It`s two disc so it may be more than one story going on (that may connect).
