Bro..it really isn’t, it’s certainly decisive, and alotta people didn’t like the direction of certain things, but to say it was panned is a huge reach, I’m not saying some of them aren’t genuine, but a lot of them jumped on the hate bandwagon for views, I’ll use the two reviewers I mentioned as examples..
Skillup - His review was genuine, he played it and said he hated how miserable the theme and characters are and it wasn’t for him...fair
Angry Joe - completely jumped on the bandwagon with the stance he wasn’t gonna like it just from spoilers, streamed himself playing it while throwing tantrums because his fav character got offed, and literally missed the entire concept of the game but blamed the game like it was ND’s fault, he does this with a lot of games
some of these streamers give fair critique, others are complete clowns, these YouTube opinions are NOT gospel

Most gamers are idiots then and if you're a person with their own brain and outlook on things you should actually play the game and decide for yourself. The mechanics are good and the set pieces are good but its more uncharted in that the charcters get in to fantastical situations then the grounded tone of the first game
Most of the charcters and even their motivations are fine but the game try's really really hard to guilt you for your actions and they give you no alternative ways to play the game
So I rejected that because it felt flimsy and manipulative and even as I enjoyed both playable charcters and there playing styles it drags on and on and felt like It could have ended three hours before it did

Finally beat it...game is depressing as hell but fantastic. 
Again, no they do not lol, and your friend should probably relax a lil and quit being so emotional over a game story he doesn’t like, and maybe point him in the direction of mostly any Marvel, DC or Walking Dead trailer, they have had misleading scenes, or “false advertising” for over a decade now

Last of us 2 is a great game with a flawed story, the gameplay is top notch and engaging all the way till the end. The story doesn't live up to the expectations of the first but its still interesting enough to keep you engaged until the end.
Games are about gameplay first and foremost, so I dont understand how anyone could call a game with such superb gameplay straight up trash.
I'm especially tired of people coming in this thread without having played the damm game trying to convince people of how bad the game is, why dont u either play the shyt yourself or let the brehs with actual experience with the game tell someone if it's worth a purchase or not.
