Source: Celtics willing to double (in terms of $) Heat offer to Ray Allen. Will give 2 years/$12 million. Heat can offer only $3 mill a yr

Seems like a no brainer for Ray, it'd be a bad look for him to leave his team to go ring chasing in Miami for half the money.

The Jeff Green situation should be fascinating.

Signing Ray Allen AND Jason Terry?

The Celtics have tried to solidify the shooting guard position by pursuing Dallas Mavericks free agent Jason Terry in addition to Allen, and Rivers said he can envision the team signing both. Celtics president Danny Ainge spoke to Terry on Sunday. Terry also is receiving interest from the Memphis Grizzlies, the Los Angeles Clippers, Suns and Mavericks. "We've given our pitch," Rivers said. "We're definitely in the picture and we have a lot of interest."

Close to signing Jeff Green

Meanwhile, the Celtics believe they're "close," as one source put it, to reaching agreement on a new deal with Green, who missed all of last season after undergoing open-heart surgery in December to repair an aortic aneurysm. The team had initially reached agreement with Green on a one-year deal before the season began, but once his condition was detected during a preseason physical the team rescinded the contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.

But a source close to 25-year-old forward Jeff Green said the odds of him also returning to Beantown as well are high, thanks in large part to his affinity for coach Doc Rivers and the Celtics' stance that he's an important part of their future going forward.

Bass Update

Bass has drawn interest from several teams, but Rivers is hopeful the Celtics can keep intact as much of last season's roster as possible. "If we can get them all, we will try to get them all," Rivers said.

Rookies introduced today. Ainge sounds like he's expecting these guys to contribute right away which I'm really happy about. I think everyone will be surprised with how quickly Melo adapts and plays in the NBA.

Does anyone think PP should be moved to SG and and Jeff should be the starting SF. Thats where I'm at right now. Also think we should re-sign Wilcox.

I don't think PP is built to defend at the 2 anymore, I wouldn't mind us getting Wilcox too.

Ray is trolling potential suitors, he knows he's coming back to Boston. :jawalrus:
