This a great film, but I'm going to start bushing films with graphic and unnecessary rape scenes. No... I'm not invalidating the plot of the film centering rape. Just the unnecessary nature of filming a minute long rape scenes that should of happened off screen.

I don't need to see or want see such heinous act. Have some damn subtly. Some fukking weirdo Ridley Scott power trip porno fantasy. I don't what is so appealing with filming rape scenes. It's dehumanizing and no matter how hard you try to make it a revenge dynamic. It still looks like a joke and fantasy power trip on visual display. Especially, in a society where 1 in 4 women is sexually assaulted.

Then. The film injects unreliable narrations. So, why film a brutal minute long rape scene....

Having friends that are women with sexual assault tragedy and how some got ridiculed for it. Film just makes me want turn it off.

I'm tired of graphic rape scenes in general.
Because it is a fantasy power trip. No one wants to admit that because they will sound like a psycho and a brute, but that’s exactly what it is. Especially when it’s a woman who is clear about rebuffing a man’s advances. And that’s why it’s so common in everyday life.

Notice how the mother-in-law said “What? Don’t you think I’ve been young before? I was raped. Men like that just take whatever women they want. Think about how much worse it is for the peasant girls when our military go to their towns. What do you think happens to them”?

I’m glad they included that scene. EVERYONE KNOWS girls/women get raped and NOTHING is ever done to curtail it because it’s understood the stronger sex will take advantage of the weaker sex. Every man doesn’t rape, but one man can rape several women.

It’s great that you are cognizant of the impact of these scenes and how they may affect victims. I had to look away myself.

That scene was/is a real experience for many women you all know.
