Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho

Not that this is really a surprise. I think the only thing that is unsure is if they can agree on the length of the contract.

Cavs are going to offer him the 5 year max Wednesday.

Tristan really is the only real domino this summer. They will have to figure out the details of his deal...I don't think the dollars are the issue. Cavs should do their due diligence here but because of his age, overall fit, attitude, motor, flexibility, and maturity they should just get this done as quickly as possible.

No matter what you should sign Love and Thompson back long term and figure it out later. I don't think either one will be un-tradeable because of the rising cap unless Love's health goes to shyt (which is possible). They are both young as shyt in NBA years.

Everybody else should be back....Delly and JR are the only two that will get the :patrice: money treatment.

I'm interested in seeing what they can get back with that Haywood contract. I don't think many teams are going to throw them an alley oop the way Phil Jackson did last season.

At worst, they can still get a trade exception that mirrors Haywood's contract and have it to use for another year.

I agree about Haywood.

But at the same time that contract he has is VERY team friendly, and it's many teams looking to shed space to sign LMA.

So you never know :yeshrug:

Yeah but teams know that by giving the Cavs something of value....particularly another young wing that can shoot 3s and play defense as the last piece of their puzzle. No one wants to help them do that.

3 and D guys are all the rage, but honestly I don't think that was what was the downfall in the finals.

I think once Kyrie went down we realized that Bron was the only guy who could create his own shot off the dribble. We had shooters that could D up ( JR, Shump, James Jones) yeah I realize they sucked in the finals but much of that had to do with the fact that if you don't have players that are able to create for themselves 3D guys are pretty much useless.

I'm actually hoping Mo Will comes back. He'd be great off the bench.

They'll get a back up point guard that's not really the issue.

The glaring hard to find/attain piece is a young reliable back up for LeBron. Something that he has never had in his career.

:what: Lebron needs to step up his GM status & stop trying to signing all these old, washed up bums who can't really contribute much, especially when it comes to crunch time. Dunleavy jr. is pure garbage & he's a fragile, inconsistent player who isn't going to do very much for the Cavs Championship quest.

last play off.. he didnt shy away.. he played hard every minutes on the floor..

plus. he plays SF.. if he can replace james 10 minutes in the play offs.. they got a great value.

most SF with his skills but younger will command more $$

True, but only because of Mike Millers declining health. Dunleavy jr isn't dependable long term because he's a very streaky shooter, plus he's also not very durable & gets injured easily. He barely could do shyt for the Bulls, so we know he's not going to do anything for the Cavs but hinder them. Cleveland needs consistent, decent role players, particularly scorers. It's not a 100% guarantee that the Cavs will get through the east again and if they get to the finals they are going to need some quality, reliable players to put up points, especially against the more loaded West teams, many who have great bench players that could be competent starters or semi stars on other teams.

He's an option for the mini MLE. He's a decently productive vet that we could actually put on the court. He wouldn't take too many minutes away from Shump and JR. He would provide some back up minutes for LBJ. He wouldn't be a starter like he was for the bulls last season. He would just come in to provide depth to eat into our main guys minutes during the pointless regular season.

We can still get younger with the Haywood contract and get a back up point guard with the Vet min.

Based on your scenario, you have James Jones at the same position that could be utilized in the same manner, who is still one of the better, potent 3 point shooters in the game with championship pedigree & will be more reliable in the clutch to provide the same depth you would require from Dunleavy jr. Dunleavy jr is slow, nonathletic & basically a spot up shooter now (and not a very good one) who has problems shooting off screens, with very little defensive skill plus he can't create his own shot off the dribble or drive to the basket so he's not going to give you much, especially if his shots aren't falling. Plus, as I've stated, he's very injury prone as well. So spending money on a player of this caliber IMO is a waste of time for the Cavs & these resources could be used on more worthy players.

If there are better options available I'm 100% sure the Cavs would look into it. But for $3.4 million a season theres not much you can get.

Also, JJ plays 3-4 not 2-3.
