Portugal is the nation that peddled more african slaves than any other country in Europe, and was one of the first with a global empire. They exported African slaves everywhere, not just Brazil
You're talking about Spain like that has shyt to do with Portugal. The Islamic dynasties were kicked out of Portugal in the 1100's, well before they were in Spain, and even before that their ability to penetrate most of Portugal was tenuous at best.

When Portugal set out on these worldwide trading expeditions it did it as a country that had been independent for hundreds of years by that point, without the need of any assistance from Spain. The reason they had so many slaves in the first place was to alleviate the chronic manpower shortage in their empire since they only had the personnel resources from their tiny ass home country to draw from.
