good lord in 1999 I barely found out how to use the internet to look up weak ass geocities and angelfire websites that had "dirt" to report. I was hitting up the library to fukk around online.

Ha, I remember browsing wrestling news sites and forums in the late 90's, nothing much has really changed. No matter what's going on *Insert company name* is a sinking ship and was so much better 10 years ago!

It's funny, I remember the utter contempt by the IWC for the Ruthless Aggression error at the time, now it's looked at fondly by most.

I feel ya fam, things always seem better in Hindsight is all I was saying. People will more than likely reflect more on the clinics that Punk/Bryan put on than remembering Hornswoggle was the anonymous GM.

It's important to keep a couple things in mind here

1) While its true that the IWC tends to prefer heels to faces, we can't discount the fact that this particular era of WWE forces all faces to be lame, smiling cornballs and select heels are really the only ones that get to have any sort of personality. So despite IWC tendencies, its hard to fault them on this one because heels today simply ARE objectively better than the work WWE faces are doing.

2) Similarly, while there is the nostalgia factor that makes every past era seem better and compare favorably to the current one, we again cannot ignore the fact that apart from all of that, the product today is legitimately worse than its been in some time. A lot of that is the PG bullshyt restricting everything and forcing everyone to cater to a 9-year old fanbase more than ever. Attitude era > "Ruthless Aggression" > PG/today. That's not nostalgia or smarks always disliking the current era. No, those are facts.

Like I said in another thread tho, rock was getting the same hate that cena got. His absence saved his career. I remember dude gettin boo'd like crazy in 2002 and that was one of the reasons for his heel turn that next year. I love rock tho don't get me wrong but people were really getting tired of him back in 2002 and there is no way to spin that.

Fans got tired of the same jokes. I remember when the Rock was getting booed when he wrestled Hogan. The IWC has always been a spoiled joke though.
