Sony had no choice to pull the movie, because the theaters wouldn't shouldn't, sony doesn't own any movie theaters, they can't tell them
what to play and what not to play, they wanted the movie to come out, can't force the theaters tod o anything

they are liable and would be a disaster for their business

There are always going to be movies and books that someone doesn't like. Sony didn't just decide not to release it to theaters. They were talking about not releasing it PERIOD. If someone threatens to blow up a building, thats one thing. If North Korea threatens to blow it up, thats another. You can't negotiate with some random hillbilly that decides he wants to shoot up a theater or call in a bomb threat. Of course you have to take precautions if that happens. But allowing hackers that you know are from a hostile nation to tell you, in your homeland that you better not say or do something or else, is directly counter to what America was founded on.
