It's kinda funny, Illmatic influenced the sound of the album and it's overall tone . Yet people wanna praise this album while dismissing the other. That's silly. The Infamous is a classic album, but not on on the level of Illmatic, but both are great albums that belong in your catalog.
Better beats, better verses and overall better songs. You're living in a fantasy. Only edge illmatic has is the unwarranted praise it got from the source which effectively helped brainwash nikkas like you. Song for song illmatic is no match at all.

Every single song on the Infamous is practically the same. Stop trying to go against the grain :birdman:

EDIT: That's not to say the Infamous is a bad album, it's not. It's just when every song doesn't deviate drastically from the other and every track is pretty much a similar sounding gangsta story it gets stale to listen to the whole way through.

features are the only exceptions

Since when is Infamous underrated? I don't know if you can say one is better than the other they're both amazing albums.
It's not the gold standard the way Illmatic is. Whenever one of the dumb fukk posters here wants to make a troll thread it's always "Chief Keefs album >>>>> Illmatic".

Fantasy my dude stop it, if you like Infamous more cool. Beatwise it's a scratch, but Lyrically, its not quite at Illmatics level. I don't need the Source to validate my opinions the influence and praise is tangible within hip hop. People may rap over infamous beats but you got rappers doing tributes to Illmatic, I don't get why that makes you uncomfortable but it is what is. Everytime you dudes want to prop up an album you have to say XXXX is better than Illmatic, that in and of itself speaks volumes. The Infamous is a classic in it's own right, it's not some album that has been forgotten in the annals of time or anything, when threads like this come around you put undue scrutiny on music that doesn't really need it, both these albums are era defining, let's just appreciate it for what is was.

I had illmatic in 94'. Never thought it was special and I still don't. Mostly boring beats. I like songs that I feel. Infamous does that and just has much better music.

But illmatic has the mysticism and poetry along with the grimy street tales, whereas infamous is just gritty street tales with grimier beats. Anyway its definitely a tough one.

Album is way underrated...

Infamous was more gritty

unwarranted praise huh

"We used to always hear it [Illmatic] chillin' with Nas [in Queens]. What's funny about it was he was humble with it. I would listen to it and the songs were so ill, it made you wanna cry. He was just calm, like, 'How you like it?' We was hearing it piece by piece, so when it came out, it wasn't surprising to hear everybody's reaction. Everybody was going crazy. You could not walk through the 'hood without hearing Illmatic. It was on your brain."

And that's a quote from havoc himself. So, havoc is apparently livin in a world of fantasy to ? :mjpls:

not to mention before illmatic mobb deep weren't the cold young thugs they were on their second album and temperature's rising is a clearly (excellent) rip off of one love.

And Hoe is the best mobb imo
