Pretty much what I was thinking during the speech. We and they deify heroes. Even if they're just as flawed as us (or worse so). Heroes aren't treated like citizens, they're put on a godly pedestal and are now relied upon. Which of course comes with the duality of both hating and loving said god-like figures. Evelyn realized the one truth, heroes are the biggest crutch for humans. This basically mirrors the real world, wherein biblical figures are prayed to and worshiped, now imagine if they were real? Its basically the Superman story all over again.
It basically exposes one the major weaknesses of humans...they latch onto something and or someone to believe in, setting ridiculous expectations and expecting their own personal god(s) to handle the situation. And at the same time, in this context, the "gods" rely on the admiration of the people. The problem; both go to extremes for what/who they love. Bob almost killed his last boss, and Evelyn's dad died thinking he could have heroes on a phone line and call them whenever shyt went bad. This in turn made Evelyn find her own extreme, which was villainy.
The moral of the story? Admiration should be taken with a grain of salt, though man and god alike, are weak.
