Yes it does, every pro sports has the conference champions face each other for the championship. Each conference is self contained and play each other. The playoffs should be designed for champions from different areas to face each other for the national champion.

Well 1. college athletics aren't pro sports, and 2. I gave you the factual historical reason conferences were created. They weren't created to determine a college football champion. They were created because it's more expensive to send the wrestling team from Georgia to California than from Georgia to South Carolina.

We have 5 power conferences and 4 spots so off top that let's you know they don't give a shyt about a conference champ. If they did then they would have had the 5 conference champs and 3 at large teams. That would be best but until they change it again we have to work with what we have, the 4 best teams in a playoff.

Historically a second place team wouldn't even be in a bowl game to be considered #1. Certainly not a top bowl game. Basically not until today's BCS era actually where you have a chance for inherent bias to cloud you to this point.

It's to the point where auburn and alabama are ranked so high, the 2 loss loser of the iron bowl could not make the sec title game but linger high enough to leapfrog a 1 loss mich state or theoretical 1 loss fsu that won their conference. That's the bullshyt that seems on the horizon.

:mjlol: ole miss literally had no consequences for that piss poor showing against lsu, the same team that got that ass stomped by auburn. That shyt was damn near a metaphorical tax write off for them. I'd have put Bama or Oregon at 4. I have no issues with the top 3.
