Sam Levinson just isn't a talented writer. He has an amazing eye and knows how to get the internet talking, but the content isn't there substance wise.

Euphoria is definitely a much better show. I'm shocked some of ya'll felt this was comparable. Season 1 of Euphoria was pretty valid.

First episode was solid but it just kept going downhill from there and never recovered. Felt like a show that was scrapped and rewritten 50 times and E4/E5 is what they shyt out to get it over with.

LRD's lil cheeks were the only redeeming quality

Euphoria S2 was a massive step down from S1 in my eyes (likely for a lot of the same issues The Idol suffered from, creative politics) and it's still night and day ahead of whatever this show tried to be.

"The Idol" makes sense with the Disney past, and it would probably be something that brought that whole teen star to whore pipeline to the zeitgeist more, instead, they just said, "nah she's a stripper already and he's Count Wackula." The Idol makes no sense as a name.

Now that I watched the entire show
I can say the people behind this show must really hate selena gomez
You can literally see the 1:1 comparisons to their entire careers and backstories
Oh and surprise jocelyn was evil and using tedros to get some fire music

Seems like a vague way of the weeknd and levinson making a hamfisted commentary about women in the music industry fukking for tracks but they got a bit too lax on the writing and dropped so much plot the last episode barely makes sense
