The novelty of new music is beautiful, when you can vibe with a track, and it touches your brain on all levels...you play it and it somehow finds a way to speak to you like nothing else. We all have that song, however it stops being novel when everyone can play it whenever they want, music is indeed for the masses and while you still might have the novel feeling about it, a small piece of you knows its being tarnished by people playing it constantly.

To put it simply, I don't pay for p*ssy or water, both are abundant and free, only a madman would pay for something so readily available....or a man who has no other skill of his own (when it comes to women).
Because of the internet, music period has lost its value so im not surprised that most of you see no value in it.

But music isn't free it is costly to produce in time and money. It's the access to it that is. And you pay for both p*ssy and water as well. But let's not stop logic from intervening in this stupid discussion.

There is a false premise here.. refusing to purchase something and having access to it otherwise does not make it free, because you opted not to pay :mjlol:

How can you be a fan of something you don't value?
Then be mad later like why isn't my fav dropping music .

That shyt takes time and money then when people don't support man it gotta make you feel like a failure .

Value is subjective. You are projecting your own ideology onto someone else...if history has shown us anything, it's that people are free to think and feel what they want, whether you like it or not. We can expand on that and eventually hit the racism/hitler/godwins law but ultimately, what you deem valuable isn't written in stone.

I used to be at the local music/Virgin store whenever anything came out. But then Napster/Morpheus happened.

And even then I still bought albums, but only shortly, till I did research and realized that artists literally get paid a penny. So even if they do sell millions, it won't be enough after tax and paying everyone a percentage. So they sell themselves out to product placement deals and being branded by companies. The music business is just that. And while many hide greed under the guise of "art". Isn't putting a price on art the opposite of art? I don't have the answers to these questions...

What I do know, the brunt of money being made by artists, isn't from the consumer...it never has been. Touring, endorsement deals, and selling products has always made them the most of their money. The problem with purists, is that they don't really like that fact, and they deny it left and right. South Park did a whole episode on it.....TLDR; Metallica, Kiss, and many other bands can afford mansion living lifestyles even in the hayday of piracy.

I stopped thinking it was "kewl" to pirate music long ago.

Water, and food are essential to life, SHOULD BE FREE, yet you nikkas don't bytch & complain about paying for them. If the govt wanted to charge you for air, some of would gladly line up to pay for it without complaint

But yet complain about buying music to support Black artists, which has clearly caused Black msuic in general to take a nose-dive.

If you just dl everything you're not a fan of music. You have no respect for the process. It can take 40 hrs just to make a 3 min song, and its shytty to have the opinion that you deserve it for free. What if your job worked like that?

There's enough free mixtapes out there that you can get enough and still buy an album every few months. Or at least use Spotify.

But you're "cool" tho and the rest of us are the idiots

:camby:

I don't think the majority want to be "cool", they just don't want to pay for something that isn't good or is delivered lazily by said artist. Many consumers don't like running after their music (the whole Tidal thing), so many prefer to dl music. Also, some people don't have 20+ greenbacks to spend on music they can easily Youtube for free. A lot of the fans of said music, need to feed their kids and or pay rent.

You're also misinformed about the music business, the studios don't have respect for the process, they take more than 80% for themselves, leaving artist counting pennies. If said acts own their masters, then maybe they might make some decent bread if the track gets used a lot (Sir Mix-A lot). Also, respect is earned, it isn't given out because someone cries for it like a child. Ultimately I like the artist, but hate that companies who crew them royally...however, these acts want to become famous more than they want money.

Going independent still makes said talent way more money than going with a label. And I agree, water and food should be free, and they are, you can go to Starbucks and order water for free. Or if you live near a park, get some from there. If you're paying for water, you have to be a moron. And if you're paying for music in this day and age, you're misinformed or deluded.

Yโ€™all paying or not?

I listen to a lot of music that isn't quite mainstream, so I definitely try to stream their music when I can. Me purchasing music is my way of saying "make more music like this." Or in the case of Nas, me purchasing their music is my way of thanking them for the decades of great music.

As for the Drakes and Cardis of the world, I don't really care whether people stream or steal that shyt.
