Any of you traveled solo to a non-English speaking country?

Quite a few in Europe some are more difficult than others.

I studied two languages in school which undoubtable helped and used a pocket dictionary and google translate on my cell which helped me memorize some stuff.

Some countries you'll just have to wing it.

:manny:

It's kinda fun but can feel incredibly isolating at times.

Went to Barcelona, and Mallorca in September, I really loved Barcelona, probably as much as Paris, ate incredible food, from Michellin Star spots to little tapas hole in the wall places, went to the club at the top of the W, which is pretty cool in of itself, as far as architectural design, and the club was cool too. Met some gorgeous Moroccan girls, so I will be expediting a trip there. Ferry to Mallorca. Ate at this spot in Mallorca, 5 star type, but very low key, you can watch the chefs cook from the diing area, tv's behind the kitchen, very trendy, progressive, foodie, chefs menu only. Hit this market everyday, got fresh seafood, and they cook it for you at the bar. The culture, the design, the women, the food, just the feel of the city, I never want to come home when I go to Europe. Met one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, eastern european, sitting next to me on the flight from Barcelona, which couldn't have ended the trip better.
Paris is still #2 to me. High key if I didn't know every square inch of + have roots in NYC it would be #1. Barcelona is probably as beautiful a city as Paris though... but for me the food was just not hitting. Paris I could go pretty much anywhere and have a bust-in-my-pants good meal... shyt France in general is crazy with the food game. I posted this from a GAS STATION from my last trip when we went out to the countryside:

Still have a lot of onions to peel back on France but them ISIS boys are starting to take the luster off :( We'll be bike tho

Stock up on food and drink asap. Everything shuts down Friday into Saturday for sabbath. You might get lucky and find something open in the Arab areas like Haffa.

Tel Aviv is more like Miami Beach than LI. Jerusalem is gonna be more like LI

Quimet Y Quimet in Barcelona, small, maybe like 10 seats at the bar, and 10 inside, tapas made right in front of you, very much a Bourdain place. It's really a food experience unlike much you would have in the US.

As for Michelin star, Moca Roo at the Hotel Omm, where I stayed, is incredible. Get the chef's tasting menu, and make reservations in advance. I also ate at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Arts, which was on my birthday, fireworks on the beach, in the middle of a music festival which stretched across the coast. Food isn't like Moca Roo, but overall a great place.

I have a few more, I made sure to hit the best places I could research, after not doing enough planning for Paris.

haven't been to barca, but been paris so can give you tips on places i've been a few times. Unfortunately paris is overrated, particularly if you're not looking to spend big cheese - most of the city is tourisy and the hotels are trash.

We loaded up. IDK breh lot of places are showing open hours through the sabbath on their websites. I was really hoping to get a workout in tomorrow afternoon. I'm gonna poke my head out and see what's going on

Nice man. I hope you have a good time over there. I really enjoyed it and I'm not religious at all. Lmk what your thoughts were. Im curious what non-Jews think about Israel when they actually get to see it first hand.

You staying in Tel Aviv the whole time or checking out some historic sites?

:dwillhuh:

Hotel? Get an AirBnB

And the cheap food is the best part about Paris. After eating at Le Bernadin I'm completely off the Michelin Star system. What a waste of $300 that was, one of the worst meals I've ever had :camby:
