I don't actually have a problem with them (although I strongly dislike their fashion sense). I just don't want them to force their culture on me. I'm one of those 'trapped in the 90's' type guys who still wears baggy pants. So sometimes I get stares and it's really annoying. Oh well.

When it comes to gentrification many small players are involved

Big companies may do the large condo projects

But small players do building rehabs, individual houses, land flipping etc

I have pooled money together with fellow young businessmen and caked off gentrification in Philly the last couple years

As for the rest, see my second post in this thread. I guarantee you I've been through more struggle than you have in life. That's why I understand it and choose not to define myself by it. Because I have been able to overcome it.

I also choose to work in the projects, surrounded by mostly black people with mostly black clients, rather than work in a corporation where I'd make 10-15G's more than I do now.
