I see a lot of NY posters complain about the Hipsters here. So have the hipsters been good or bad for NYC? NYC crime is at an all time low but so is the culture.
Most of them are buffoons who are unconcerned with the gentrification and displacement they're helping to fuel, which is unfortunate because many of them also engage in some kind of political posturing.
Double edged sword. Williamsburg and Bushwick have little businesses and shops popping up everywhere but the neighborhoods are losing their identities, which is kind of what makes NYC special.
In Bay Ridge it used to be Italians and Irish. Now a mess of middle eastern communities are popping up all over there.
East NY and Brownsville are still the same. They not THAT brave yet. But The Stuy? Shiiiit at 2 or 3 in the morning you can see white girls stumbling around drunk from partying in the city. 10 years ago that was NOT the case.
Lol Jay's Bed Stuy? I heard Bushwick was like that too?
Why haven't they gone to the bronx yet?
Breh...there's cats that's from here ain't going to the BronxLol Jay's Bed Stuy? I heard Bushwick was like that too?

Bed Stuy is crazy now. It's sad because by percentage and density it was once the Blackest neighborhood in the entire country, but that won't be the case soon. Bushwick is pretty bad as well. Rents, prices at local stores, etc, are skyrocketing.
Bronx is still too far away and too fukked up to look inviting to them.
So hipsters are followers man. That blows. At least let the movement be OG.Breh...there's cats that's from here ain't going to the Bronx
Not unless it's a Yanks game. BX is wild...and will probably be wild for the forseeable future. That's a whole borough of just HOOD.
People move from all the far corners of the country...Seattle, Wisconsin, Idaho and shyt, in order to make it big here.So hipsters are followers man. That blows. At least let the movement be OG.

Some of them are legit small business owners who see opportunity in NYC and want to make it.
A LARGE proportion of them are art students, "aspiring actors", "aspiring musicians", etc. Those people really don't contribute at all to the city save for the aformentioned hipster white chicks who I find are easier to kick it to because they're intrigued by black people rather than afraid.
It's a lot easier to kick it to some white hipster girl with the black rim glasses and the band you've probably never heard of than the becky from Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst, but that might be a topic for another thread
