To be honest, he made this for a specific demographic. And they donated.
As long as this specific demographic is content with what Tariq delivers there shouldn’t be an issue.
If this is the path they take as a community, then so be it.
Nah man, he misled, used, and scammed that demographic of his. He played on the egos of his"own people" just to make easy money.
If Tariq Nasheed wasn't a total scumbag narcissist coward who sees pro-black politics as a piggy bank he can make money off of he wouldve taken HIS own fukking money, open up his own cheap party lounge out of HIS POCKET, and invited his audience to support his small business that HE payed for.
Or he would've been upfront and honest and told his audience, who he respects and wishes to serve, that he is in the process of opening up a small lounge and event space in LA that will be invisible ownership and themed after African American history; and that they are welcome to contribute to a small, humble black owned business.
Sure, If this was the approach he took I'd agree. His audience. Their money.
But because Tariq Nasheed has absolutely no respect for his audience, clearly loathes them and black people as a whole, and is simply not a serious person, he instead proposed to them a grandiose multi-level museum. He misled them into believing this is what he's working on and this is what their money is paying for. A museum. An academic institution and a town square that belongs to us. And he knowingly turned it into something quick, cheap, useless and lucrative for just himself instead: just another hookah lounge.
This lounge is in fact not what "FBA" wanted or expected or wished to give up their hard earned money towards. These people gave up on scholarly bull dyke Yvette Carnell, joined the "FBA movement," and trusted Nasheed; believing they were donating to what was going to be a respectable insitution of history and academia from someone who cares deeply and passionately about "his people." Seeing nothing but alcohol, comedy nights, hookahs, disco lights, acrylic nails, bad weaves, stilettos, and generic lounge mixers instead, and absolutely nothing of intellectual or historic value was manipulative, deceitful and disappointing to his audience. No matter how much they want to save face and convince themselves Tariq delivered and the tethers are mad and jealous, or gaslight themselves like battered wives into believing this what they knew they were giving their money towards .
If they were really content with this they wouldnt have spent more than a year arguing that the dj parties with drank, smoking, blaring music, and girls in stilettos and clubwear twerking on you are perfectly normal for museums (theyre not). They didn't want to believe that their museum is actually just another cheap hookah lounge making quick money for Tariq Nasheed, and not this academic institution they expected.
He lied. He overpromised and WAY under delivered. This place will be closed and turned into another Latin bar in no time. They probably won't even have to change nothing but the posters and banner. Its embarassing
