You've got a very narrow view of what a hip-hop album should sound like.

Also, if you could, list the rappers you could actually cop a brick from...

I'll wait

Wow you're slow as fukk. Those ARE metaphors. Look the word up. And I don't really care if he was talking about Raekwon or ray Charles or both. Doesn't make the lyrics any less forced and corny

You're half right. "I'm a genius, I'm Rae" that's not really a metaphor in the traditional sense, but technically it is. The rest of it however are more akin to similes. If you're looking purely at the syntax he's saying, "I'm vicious with the verse I'm a genius, I'm (like) Rae". It's a metaphor in the technical sense, but the rest of it "You nikkas seeing nothing on the zenith like Ray" that's a simile. You are sort of right, but you're mixing up the two a bit.

Wanna know a good example of a metaphor in a hip-hop song? I used to Love HER by Common. The girl in that song is a metaphor for hip-hop. THAT'S a metaphor. These are just similes Pusha is using. I can't recall a single time Pusha T has ever really used a metaphor.

Anyway though, the bars don't sound forced or corny at all. Did you listen to the song or are you just reading lyrics that someone posted?

The song they're rapping these on is the Im a Hustla remix. What the fukk kind of lyrics are you expecting?

I get it. You don't like the Clipse. That's fine. Just say you don't like them instead of proving how little you know about basic literary concepts you should have been taught in high school.

You're like that nikka Art Barr who love to just say shyt to say shyt. At least you can write a coherent sentence, but next time, know what you're talking about before you speak on it.

Similies ARE a TYPE of metaphor bro. They're just metaphors that use the word "like".

Here I even googled it. Your home work is to read this and take notes.

What is the Difference Between Metaphor and Simile?

I feel embarrassed for you look how hard you're trying to sound smart when you're wrong.

And thanks for the compliment Art Barr is my favorite poster

They're different. I'm not trying to sound smart at all, I am just trying to explain it to you as precise as I can.

Similes are metaphors, but not all metaphors are similes.

They are in the same "family" so-to-speak, but they aren't the same thing.

you nikkas catching feelings cause a nikka can type properly ol ad hominem avoid the topic at hand ass nikkas :russ:

All similes are metaphors. Not all metaphors are similes. A similie is a type of metaphor that uses "like" or "as".

You are trying to tell me that the lyrics I posted aren't metaphors--they're similes. But all similes are metaphors, therefore they are metaphors!

Regardless, call it whatever you want simile metaphor onomatopoeia, the point in my post is that forced try hard lyrics like that are lame.

No... they are similes. The corrected myself because I forgot that he doesn't say I'm a genius "like" Rae, he says, I'm a genius, I'm ray. That is technically a metaphor. However, when the term "like" or "as" is used, as I'm sure you learned on google, that is a simile.

My point to you is, if you're taking an English class, you have to be specific about what it is. If a literary device is a simile, you identify it as a simile. That's why I'm trying to tell you that you're half-right.

It's like two animals with the same same genus but different species. You have to be specific. They are very different in regards to how these terms are expressed, that's all I meant by it.

I didn't mean to come off as insulting your intelligence, but i'm just neurotic about shyt like that.

Regardless all of that irrelevant, my ultimate point is: why are you using 3-4 lines from a mixtape song to judge an entire duo's catalogue? :wtf:

Markp, you shouldn't judge them solely off of We Got it For Cheap Vol. 2. Although personally that is a classic to me, they have a lot of great songs that are brilliantly done in their own way. "We Got it for Cheap (the intro on Hell Hath No Fury) for example, I'm Not You, Virginia, Mic Check (from We Got it For Cheap Vol .2).

Personally, I'm a big Clipse fan. I just like their energy, I like their originality, and I like the unique way they describe their shyt.

I don't take their personas too seriously-- I don't take the persona of any rapper seriously. At the end of the day I find them entertaining, and I love their music, if you don't feel the same way about them, it is what it is.

If you're gonna criticize Pusha you at least have to criticize Malice too methinks.

Fair enough. I do like some of their songs like Virginia and I'm Not You. They do get over hyped on the internet though and some of their lyrics are just beyond corny to me.

I take the persona of a rapper seriously because that's one of the great things about rap. Artists can put so much personality in their music. Look at Devin the Dude, Cam'ron, Boosie, Ghostface, Currensy, and Gucci Mane for an example. You almost get to know the rappers through their music. But when rappers talk about nothing other than fake cocaine fairy tales with a bunch of punchlines and wordplay its just wack.

:yeshrug: Honestly, I rarely ever hear anybody talking about them so that's a surprise to me.

I just think when they get full on ignorant with it, their wordplay is pretty crazy.

"More white in the hood than the KKK" :wow:

"The grand wizard of that almighty blizzard" :wow:

Check out "Hello New World" also from Hell Hath No Fury. That is probably in my top 3 favorite Clipse songs

The thing is, all of these guys exaggerate in their stories. I'm a huge Cam'ron fan too, but come on b Cam'ron is telling a lot of crazy shyt too. Every rapper does.

The thing is the Clipse showed a remorseful side of dealing drugs and they discussed faith and introspective topics all the time. It wasn't what they were talking about that made them unique, it was how they did it. Plus, their sound was very different at the time thanks to the Neptunes production. I just like their music and I too feel like you get to know after a while.

Yeah, I just feel like the Clipse too often is generic cocaine glorification with substance and personality substituted by clever wordplay. But its whatever theres definitely a lot of shyt worse out there. I'd listen to The Clipse over Drake or Eminem any day
