Eh, I mean there's a difference between encouraging people and just talking down to them.
There are problematic subsections of any group of people, but as a young black guy I get tired of the constant rhetoric accusing me (or people like me) of being a thug/deadbeat dad/lazy/moocher/etc. For the most part it's just preaching to the choir anyway and I kind of doubt many people are going to change their lifestyle because Bill Cosby or whoever said so. Addressing problems in the black community and suggesting ways to fix them is fine (and I'd encourage it) but there's a certain point where it starts to come off disdainful.
