Who are AEW's main sponsors? Because if the new guy doesn't care or is indifferent to wrestling and sees that the sponsors AEW are getting are not to his liking, then it might not matter how good the ratings are :lupe:

That's the only thing I'm worried about. People make the mistake of thinking that WCW was killed because of ratings when in reality AOL Time Warner simply didn't want wrestling on their network. Bischoff had raised enough money but without a timeslot his financial backers backed out.

I just hope the same thing doesn't happen, the last 18 months or so have been a great time to be a wrestler and wrestling fan.

They're probably fine as long as ratings stay good. There were times at the start of the NBA season where they had more viewers than some games on TNT that week. As long as they stay in the 700-1M mark and the DEMOS stay good, they should be fine for a while.

This. Isn't AEW doubling the viewing audience than what was in their time slot before their debut? Surely sucks, but lay of the land now is much different than it was 20 years ago. Plus Vince Russo isn't losing the company $60 million this year alone.
As long as AEW isn't losing them money they'll probably be fine. The thing that people are worried about is if a network just decides to go in a different direction. AOL/Time Warner let WCW know that it didn't matter if WCW bounced back, because they were done with wrestling on their networks.

Did they ever find a decent replacement for Nitro? Because it felt like TNT fell into the same trap USA fell into when they let the WWE walk. Every show they tried to replace RAW with got cancelled after 1 season.

I think The Closer aired Monday nights and they got 7 to 9 Million people audience. Then after that show decided to end, they put a spin-off of that show, Major Crimes, in that time slot (don’t know the ratings for that show though). So from 2005 to 2018, they had a more than decent replacement on Mondays. Plus they had NBA Playoffs on Mondays as well.

So the exact opposite of the USA network. The one thing that I could see TNT doing now is demanding that AEW grow their audience beyond the 700k-800k with the occasional 900k viewers.

Slow down bruh, if the rest of the people at the company are fine with the product then it's all good. They might just put more pressure on them to expand the viewership, because despite what Alvarez, Jericho, Kahn and Meltzer say overall viewership is still very important.
Nah it’s over.

Why is it over? If they can consistently get a milli then i think they'll be just fine, but all those anti WWE fans are going to have to do their part and stop being inconsistent viewers. AEW got 901k viewers this week, but would it shock anybody if they dropped to 750k next week?
