not only that but developers will have to support different SKUs like lets sday 5 years from now..Thats 5 different SKUs for the same game and only one SKU for Play

The price for their upgraded console determine if this idea is DOA or not..If they releasing the upgraded XBOX for 399-599 thats DOA...They better go 199-250 if they're going to do this..Imagine little Johnnies dad walking into walmart on black friday/Christmas every year and seeing a new Xbox every year but the PS4 that he bought for his son last year..Thats going to confuse and piss the customer off big time..Thats why PC gaming is mostly for enthusiast..Johnny pops aint going to buy his 9 year old a 399-599 new version of the console every Christmas..Dude will buy a PS4 bundle and be done with it..

You can probably just upgrade the Xbox that was bought ...instead of buying a whole new one

Major Nelsons podcast has Phil on there today, and clarifies things. First off, no part upgrades. Gonna be a whole new console. Second, this isn't happening in the near future, or likely even this gen. He compared situations like the iPhone where even when you upgrade, all your previous content still works, so safe to assume Xbox one games will work on the new console.

My take on the situation is that this won't start until next gen. But just like Xbox 360 did, Xbox two is gonna jump start early before ps5. And Phil makes it clear he wants it to be a beast specs wise. MS will probably ride out 2016 and 2017, then start the next gen in 2018.

The hot takes in here.

Iterative consoles was a bad idea

Microsoft going PC ment they were done with consoles.

Fast forward to a 2024 Sony stan’s preference of day one PC games and “pro” consoles.

Crazy:wow:
