They said that he was misappropriating COVID relief funds or something of the sort. I saw a few homemade signs along Mall pkwy saying don't believe the media stories about the mayor of Stonecrest, and basically saying that white people/higher ups are fukking with him, because Stonecrest broke off from Lithonia. It gives me the impression that maybe he was on some all Black city shyt with the split move, and it pissed off the crackers higher up in the chain. I don't know his intentions, but I'm very hesitant to follow what the media says about Black politics of this nature.

I have family that are residents of stonecrest, they cant stand the man. My uncle has known him for decades and said before the election that he was going to ruin the city. Plus it split off from Lithonia which is pretty much all black, so the cacs up in the food chain dont really exist.

Does anybody know what is going on in Stonecrest with this mayor scandal? It seems like a lot of Black politicians down here end up railroaded for anything. Also what is the deal with this "Black Wallstreet" project that they have going up at the old target off of Mall Pkwy?

I know they got some food trucks, I went other ways these past couple of weekends, i might save a few coins to see what they about this weekend. As far as the interior of the building I have no idea

Im only speaking as a non resident that has talked to folks that live there. Jason lary is supported by the "elite" black folks that live there. The common folk dont really rock with him.

And the buzzards of course are going to be circling because there is alot of money in that area lowkey.

How they lost a Best Buy, Target, Sams Club etc pre-pandemic AFTER the city was formed is baffling

Besides this recent accusation of misappropriation of funds does this guy have a record of being funny style? Also Lithonia, is Jack n Jill central. It is the boule capital of the South. While it's a nice idea that Blacks live in upscale subdivisions, from my experience living in one of those sub divisions the immigrant class was over represented. Meaning that while there were alot if not mostly FBA's. immigrants were down near a third of my neighbors. LIthonia was a illusion to me that I fell for in the my early 20's. Then it began to make sense.

shyt Lithionia was the place to be in the late 90s. Plenty of land, big ass houses, brand new mall on the way, restaurants, stores.

What fukked up Lithonia was first the schools went to shyt, folks started moving to Conyers, then renters started taking over. Projects shut down so they started giving vouchers in the black suburbs. Housing crisis kicked in and they ramped up the section 8 again in black suburbs. So yards was looking like shyt, crime was rising, property values fell. Conyers took the Target, Best Buy and other retail. Stonecrest mall went to shyt. Mismanagement by Dekalb and Lithonia government and now it looks like a fancy hood.

Best buy is outdated, Target was halfass,and once they built the Wal-mart, they didn't need the Sam's Club

He isn't bring any meaningful business to the area and as you said, he is losing business. There is too much purchasing power, too much value in the area for Stonecrest to be performing like it is. White folks interested in the area for a reason.

Ok thats why they got replaced with a Burlington, Black Wall Street, and polling place respectfully. If those businesses sucked they should have been replaced with something better or comparable.

Ironically the official reason for Sams Club closing was not its proximity to Walmart (they tend to build them close to Sams alot) it was because so many businesses and restaurants closed down that Sams Club was losing money because these companies were not shopping in bulk.

at the end of the day the mayor should be selling the vale of why industries should invest. Right now the area is simply a collection of houses for people who get their money elsewhere but thats all they can afford. If you are going to use that model then you at least have to bring in top notch service industry business to serve that population +’good schools. The area has none of this.
