damn I didn’t even know White folks was in the west end. I thought the AUC, Bankhead, west end, and Cleveland ave were the last places left that white folks haven’t moved too yet.

I had my kids in some classes at the Arts Center in the West End on Abernathy and was floored there were white children in every class. I remember overhearing one of the white mothers saying she'd purposely put her kids in the classes because she wanted them to be exposed to diversity
I'll never forget on morning, waiting for the center to open, I look across the street and see a gay white guy in some tight shorts and flip flops, sashaying right past the Shrine of the Black Madonna while talking to someone on the phone. Considering the histort of the neighborhood, that image still sticks with me.
Another day, I saw a random white lady chatting with one of the NOI brothers who sell their newspapers and pies on the same street. She looked sincerely pleased and it looked like she was asking him something about the pile of The Final Call papers in his hands.
Down the street behind Mo B, I remember driving and having to hit the brakes once when another white lady road across the street on a bike...she was genuinely riding with as much ease as if she were on a trail and not in the middle of Vine City/Ashby...it was sincerely funny and disturbing.
So, yes, sir, white people are all and thru the West End/AUC now and have been for a minute.
