When Mike Render, better known as rapper Killer Mike, was growing up on Atlanta’s Westside, you could find him nearly every Friday at Bankhead Seafood, tucking into a $5 seafood box with his family.

He remembers his grandmother visiting the restaurant with co-workers for lunch weekly, and he attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Bankhead Seafood owner Helen Brown Harden.

lol its still not a huge segment of roles for black people though. Lot of these black tech groups full of folks finessing too but thats another subject for another day.

I personally saw every black grad that completed the general assembly development course, get a job. And those programs are thought of as the bottom of the barrel candidates.

Go to the black tech meetups then. We have a very robust referral system for tech jobs. It’s probably the best network for blacks in tech nationwide.

Exactly. Blacks in Atlanta make up 25% of the tech workforce in Atlanta (compared to a place like SF where it’s 6%). So is it perfect, no. But Atlanta is easily the best place for black tech founders and black led tech companies

Speaking of blacks in tech in Atlanta shout out to the homie Joey Womack being named manager of the We Work Labs that opens downtown next week. If any of y’all are interested in going it’s a week worth of programming, networking and introductions. Let me know if y’all tryna come thru (it’s free BTW)

Finessing and trapping been many a young Atlanta nikka’s MO, but that’s been across numerous industries. I just don’t understand how people in here (not you) can make the point that there’s not a huge segment of roles for black people in tech. WTF does that even mean? SMH but I shouldn’t be surprised ignorant people say ignorant things, the same people on here said there was no tech scene in Atlanta just 2 years ago

The city of Stonecrest has been a absolute failure. They re-elected the mayor too. There is still money in that area and all of the retail and eateries are going to Conyers

all these mini ass cities are goofy. City of south Fulton should have annexed into ATL imo.

As long as Dekalb's governance in in the hands of questionable people, it will continue to happen. Brookhaven just snatched a whole neighbourhood under their umbrella with the new year south of 85, and the city is not going to be content with just the Emory annexation.

DeKalb’s leadership are some dummies. They have missed out on so much money by gambling and making dumb decisions. The whole county gonna be liquor stores and extended stay motels soon.
