I loved the TV show but damn I thought that movie was comical. We fell out on that Cobralalalalala! warcry. Who the fukk is that scaring?

I remember them bushing Cobra commander for Sepentor "this I command!", Nemesis Enforcer (that was a hard name though :ehh:), some trash new characters they introduced, Don Johnson voiced the scrub "undisciplined but has potential who wakes up and realizes it at the end" character.

Plus that lame ass "death" scene at the end. I guess they planned on killing off Duke but changed it to "OMG he fell into a coma!" :dead:

Shame because the annual made for TV movies were epic. I heard this one was going to go to theaters but they didn't think it would make money.

The plans was Hasbro was gonna make movies of their 3 more profitable properties:

Transformers
GI Joe
My Little Pony

Transformers came out first and got the high budget hence all the big names attached to it ( Lenard Nimoy, Robert Stack, Orson Wells and Judd Nelson hot off the breakfast club) and the movie FLOPPED at the box office and got a lot of black lash because of the brutal deaths of a lot of the Autobots and of course Optimus Prime despite him going out like a hero and true G.

Anyways because of the failure of the Transformers, plans changed for GI Joe that was being animated and produced at the same time:

1) they decided not to go into theaters and let it be a mini series. For people that dunno, GI Joe started out as two multi-episode mini series in 1982 which prove to be a winning formula. So they split the movie into 5 episodes and use the stock music from the show instead of brand new instrumentation like in Transformers

2) Duke was suppose to die. As you can see in the movie that snake hit him right in his heart. But because Hasbro received tons of letters from parents who complained about their kids crying of the death of Optimus, they added extra dialogue to say that duke was in a coma because his death scene was already animated. But as you can clearly see, Duke died in that scene. Side note: because of those letters, Transformers made Optimus come back and lead the autobots again at the end of season 3 which takes place after the events of the movie

And for those that care: my little pony’s movie got cancelled altogether. But recently the transformers and my little pony are going to crossover this April in the comics. Yea... crazy

Kids ruining shyt... Duke had to go :birdman:
:russ:

but think about that shyt foreal. the demographic for transformers was like 6-12.. and the marketing team thought it would be cool to KILL a gang of transformers so they could sell new toys :skip:
fools was getting holes shot in them and tossed in the bushes in outer space :dead:

In chicago as a kid I remember they actually played the entire GI Joe Movie as a cartoon movie on like Friday or Saturday night. It was like a 2 hour movie on either channel 32 or WGN channel.

They also did the same thing with the voltron cross over (lions and cars movie).

We say that for nostalgic reasons. which is fair. play the last mario. Not the new one on switch. the music is increbible.you can't even front on the 8 bit midi tracks. but they got motherfukkers doing orchestral shyt. that shyt is dope.

Breh I actually believe it isn't nostalgia. I myself have kids and the cartoons they watch don't even have intros as good as we had in the 80s and 90s. Companies just aren't spending money on intros and outros soundtracks for tv shows, movies or cartoons.

Today you will never see complex intros with big budget music to TV shows, movies and cartoons like in the past.

Actually now the goal for studios is to make the intro quick and fast to get to the show or movie. Hell back in the day the intro was part of the show. People/kids would run to the TV just to see the intro. Think of intros like the cosby show, knight rider, miami vice, vegas, 80s tv show stingray, simon and simon, equalizer and hardcastle and McCormick just to name a few tv show intros.

Its night and day when commanding the intros from the past to today.

The Cobra-La mutation stuff was a little darker than the normal TV cartoon.

One of the best physical visual pieces of art ever.
I own the original reference piece to this transformation
When i do nOt like gore or body disfiguration art at all. Illustration is top notch.
Simply because it flirts the line in a children's cartoon.
Then delivers in every way artistically.
Including in shock value for the type of genre it resides in.
