I'm worried about David Simon's 1970's porn project. I hope HBO doesn't get scared off since they already have a 1970's show in Vinyl. And now that Netflix has The Get Down. We need that David Simon series, HBO

HBO is gonna have trouble competing with the GET DOWN. You're right. I think both can be good. I like Vinyl's cast. But I love the Get Down is telling it from black people's perspective and how we changed the music scene and environment in NYC.

Yes, completely agree. Vinyl's main character is a music exec I think, this is following kids from the South Bronx.

Simon has a great track record of getting stuff to air at HBO so I think it'll get picked up.

HBO don't need to worry to much with Vinyl as they release episodes weekly. Most will binge watch The get down and be done with it within week as Netflix typically release them all at once no?

And yeah when I saw it earlier, it looks like a companion piece to Vinyl.

Except one is looking at the rise of hip-hop, punk and disco through white eyes, while the other is looking at the rise of disco and hip hop through black eyes (though also through the white eyes of Baz Luhrmann ), with the uniting factor being cocaine. So that all sounds good in my book.
