Eddie
Rick Cosnett's Eddie Thawne was the subject of a lot of speculation over the course of The Flash's run on The CW. Many predicted in the first season that Eddie would go on to become the Reverse Flash, only for the character to kill himself to stop his future descendant and true Reverse Flash, Eobard Thawne. With Eddie's dead body being sucked into a hole in time, further speculation from fans asserted that the character somehow survived to become season 2 baddie Zoom, but that, too, was debunked, with Eddie remaining dead (though the character appeared briefly during an episode involving time travel).
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Cosnett expressed his willingness to live up to expectations by playing a villain, especially after playing the morally grounded Eddie. “I mean, there’s nothing better than playing someone who’s a little bit evil and who you’ve seen where he comes from.” the actor said. “I think that’s what was exciting about Eddie. We’ve seen him be so good, and when you see someone turn evil through jealousy…you know, we’ve all got this bad and evil side. Eddie really just chose to constantly be good. He always rose above everything, and he never really got jealous. He was such a good man in that sense. From that, to have someone so diabolically evil would be so exciting and so cool to be able to play.”
As for whether Eddie could ever return to The Flash permanently, it seems like it may happen sooner than a lot of people expected. "Definitely...definitely," Cosnett said when asked. "I can't say exactly where, but there is definitely a big chance that I could be in this new timeline, you'll have to wait and see."
