'The Flash' Casts Tony Todd as Voice of DC Villain Zoom in Season 2 (EXCLUSIVE)

“The Flash” has tapped “Candyman” star Tony Todd as the voice of DC Comics villain Zoom in season two, Variety has learned exclusively.

Zoom will menace titular hero Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) beginning in episode two, titled “Flash of Two Worlds.”

“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Variety. “Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.”

"Harrison Wells will be back, but he's going to be a very different Harrison Wells than we've seen before," exec producer Gabrielle Stanton previews. But how (or should we say, from where/when?) will he return? "We've got other worlds. We've got other timelines. All I'm going to say is he's from one of those places," the EP replies with a laugh.

I can help but notice that she said "Harrison Wells" will return, rather than Reverse Flash or Eobard Thawne. Maybe there will be some alternate timeline where the real Harrison Wells is still alive (and a good guy)?

Yeah. I'm guessing since Eobard Thawne got erased from history, the way Eobard killed and absorbed Harrison Wells body into his own body is erased as well which means Harrison is back to his good guy self.

That might be the re-debut of Harrison Wells in that scene. That's who I think they are looking at. Because I can imagine the Star Labs team being very cautious and nervous around Harrison Wells during their first interactions.
