The fact that Jay and his fans STILL act like he owns the Nets, is utterly pathetic.

Jay has been fleecing the nets. Lol, at the dudes above saying Jay is getting exploited.

I don't know who thought Jay actually owned the NETS. They obviously no nothing about sports anyway.

NetsDaily has a run down of links of what he does based off the NYTIMES article.

Jay-Z's Role With Nets Bigger Than His Small Stake, a LOT Bigger - NetsDaily

Must be a flavor of the month thing....but as soon as the logo was unveiled, the merchandise moved. It moved very fast. They sold more since the unveiling then they did combined the last few seasons (keep in mind the jerseys haven't been unveiled yet)

Jay said in an interview that it's more for bragging rights and it's not a great investment for him to own part of a team. I don't think he bought into the team to make money off of the team per se. I think it was more about the allure that's comes with franchise ownership and the fact that he can run with the misconception that he parks in his "own arena" etc. It's all about perception. It's a good business move for him however you slice it IMO.

Anybody that pays attention to sports and knows who makes the decisions couldn't have believed that Jay owned the Nets.

He's just a high profile minority owner

Now with that said I'd love to own a small part of a team from my favorite sport just so I can say that I do

Judging by the level of artistic creativity that went into the Nets logo, it seems like it was designed by someone who made it big as a rapper on their first solo album which happened about 7 years after their debut as a sidekick, and by that time had successfully composited the styles of Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Raekwon, and the Fu-Schnickens.

How much stake doe Jay have and was he given some marketing/promotional position, or is he just like a minority owner who as part of his contract has to promote and market the franchise?

I could have swore that Nelly bought into the Charlotte Bobcats before Jay got into the Nets....if anyone has the bragging rights it would be Nelly, but people conveniently overlook that.

If I am wrong correct me.....but Im sure Jay wasnt the first hip-hop artist to buy into a pro team

Let me get this straight, nikkas is hating on someone that put down 1/15 of the money that the actual owner did and became the face of the team, got major benefits, and even got nikkas to believe he actually owns the team and this is a lose somehow?:heh:
