Was watching last night. Saw the knowledge college episode and the house party one. Started watching one where tj is in shop class but was falling asleep thru out the episode.

I think they just tried doing too much and jumped the shark. It was obvious him and Laura were gonna end up together but they just dragged things too long and started coming up with ideas that were unnecessary. Plus the character change for Harriet didn't help. It usually never does.

Family matters is more of a family sitcom, whereas smart guy was more of a kid sitcom.

the thing about family matters is that it utilized the universe it was created in much like marvel and them do now, urkel was on step by step, full house, there were crossovers for days. and then much like full house, it became awkward in that, they were only at home, then at school, then rachels place, then urkels place- they really had to rewrite and change the story usually urkels parents were out of town or something but i think they finally said fukk it and they moved away..then they brought in the character machine and made different characters which was good because while it was forced due to the story basically being set, they got some really good episodes out of it. when urkel and carl are like bruce lee, or urkel the robot...they are stupid as hell but they had to do what they had to do and eventually the ship had to sail.

smart guy was the same the home/house set and school, did yvette graduate? and the dad start dating someone? They really didnt have long way to go supposing the show went really well and could last 4-8 seasons.

both good shows, both deserve a lot of praise, but they arent in the same division
