The fact remains, women have no good reason to wear weaves.

:bryan: @ the word "install" being associated with hair, makes it sound like you putting a new muffler on the whip or something.

Weave is doing more damage to your hair than anything else, this isn't rocket science, there's nothing protective about not letting your scalp breathe or having hair sewn into your noggin.

Imagine if gardeners used the same principles, nothing would grow :lupe:

I've been doing my own hair since I was 16 and It's 100% fine so I know what works for my hair and whenever I wear weave for a while my hair always looks good when I take it out. Weave has never damaged my hair. :manny:

The chick in that video wears wigs sometimes, she wore a wig while she was growing out her hair and her hair is natural and healthy. There are a lot more women on YT that do the same thing and they have long, healthy, natural hair. I can tell a lot of you guys just don't like weave but you can't tell us what helps our hair and what doesn't because you don't know that.

Her hairline is about 5 inches from her eyebrows, not a good example.

Is it possible that the chronic hair manipulating is creating the problems(breakage etc)?

I will say, you seem like the most informed male when it comes to this discussion. At least you get the basic premise of caring for natural hair (low manipulation). You are correct; frequent manipulation of afro textured hair is a bad thing and does often lead to breakage. That is were "p-styling" :scheme: comes in. Weaves are not the only "p-style" that women use.

If she were a man, we'd clown her hairline too, you struggling for air brehette.

That slow crawl of a receding hairline is what that weave do.

Her hair line is fine, breh. I'm not struggling for anything, you guys are just being ridiculous. :smh:

Weave is a protective style, not the only one, but it is one. Even if you don't want to admit it, you can't argue with it. :manny:

Right, there is nothing wrong with her hair line. She has all her edges and everything. They are just making up stuff now.

Don't want to be in this thread for too long but I will say that weave in 2013 is pretty ridiculous and very unnecessary and an over-reliance will 9/10 result in disaster:

The hairline of a woman that wears weave 11 months out of the year every year will be way different than a woman that wears weave during the winter months

HATE prolonged weave use....not the use of weave as an alternative to other low manipulation styles such as buns, braids, twists, and updos

Realize African American hair is porus and very curly which is why it's more prone to breakage

Low manipulation and moisture = happy black hair friends
