The fact remains, women have no good reason to wear weaves.

Basically thinning of the hair and receding of the hairline, whether by pulling your hair back too tight in ponytails, wearing weaves or braids.

:wow:

i'll calm down when just one of you admit weave is tied to self hate, and that black women hate natural hair more than anyone else

Marcuz, If you think wearing weave means someone hates themselves (as if you can't like two different types of hair) then you can believe that but you won't get any of us to agree with you. I think you're forgetting you're talking to a bunch of women that have natural hair but still like to wear weave sometimes.

Weave isn't protecting your hair brehette, all that traction alopecia running rampant and causing the "egghead" look and talk of "edges" is proof enough.

Yes weave can cause that (so can combing, brushing, braids etc) but if you install your weave correctly, it won't happen. and the weave isn't protecting my hair it's a hairstyle that doesn't require me to manipulate my hair because too much manipulation = breakage.

Is it possible that the chronic hair manipulating is creating the problems(breakage etc)?

:bryan: @ the word "install" being associated with hair, makes it sound like you putting a new muffler on the whip or something.

Weave is doing more damage to your hair than anything else, this isn't rocket science, there's nothing protective about not letting your scalp breathe or having hair sewn into your noggin.

Imagine if gardeners used the same principles, nothing would grow :lupe:
