You damn right it isI see this is a touchy subject...
There is nothing wrong with saying you'd like seeing black women with their natural hair. The problem with this thread is it is being stated as a fact, that if a woman is wearing a weave its because of some type of self hate. Do you really believe that to be true?
How can we celebrate "black beauty" when yall hide it under Indian weave?
And we are trying to build on the fact that we want black women to appreciate black beauty like we do, but yall keep promoting weaves which create an unrealistic ideal for our young black girls and perpetuates the negative stereotypes of black hair.
That's what i'm saying. These men in here are tripping. Glad i don't have any post in here besides this one
Um fukk the both of you. My post was not directed at either one of you. One of you is **** and the other is some ole fake ass IT certs having sambo. That is true.
I will never accept the argument that majority of black women are wearing weaves for reasons other than self hate.
The ones that have hair/health issues are in a minority.
one observation I have also made..........................The darker the skin tone, the longer her hair-hat.
I'm not about to read through 500+ posts, but tell me...Why do you, personally, wear weave? What do you get out of it? Dont try to say "protective styles" or "cuz i like it" cuz thats bs. Deep down inside, what makes you want to cover your own hair with someone elses?
I've been natural for going on 8 years. I have very long hair when it's straight and a huge afro when it's not. So for someone like you or the other guys to tell me that I hate myself because I put on my kinky OR straight half-wig (when it's extra cold and dry outside or when I want to wear a particular style for one or two days with manipulating my hair that much) is stupid. You expect someone to give you a hug when they are blatantly calling you a liar (someone who has no reason to lie because they wear their natural hair 95% of the year).
For instance, I wore a straight half wig in July for a trip to Miami to celebrate someone's bday because wearing straight natural hair in Miami would have been a disaster with humidity and I also didn't feel like manipulating my hair everyday.
In August, I had to travel to NY for a conference for four days. I had put my hair in two strand twist and I didn't think they looked professional (Right before the conference, I did a hard protein treatment and didn't realize it would make my twists look horrible) so I put on my kinky hair wig (that looks exactly like my hair) and wore that the entire time.

Who are you trying to fool with the hairhat?

Yeah, bruh...in the western world we have a European standard of beauty that has been force fed into our collective consciousness for centuries, not an african standard. You aint really sayin sht. If nikkas really wanted to take a stand, we would stop dating women with weaves, idealizing and celebrating natural hair and an african inspired aesthetic. If we do that, our women would definitely follow suit.
Btw, you talkin all this white women dont try to look black sht.....mind explaining tanning salons and the butt injections wave?
I'm here to advance the cause of black women I care about. Why are you in this thread? You can offer nothing worth reading so go back to your smoking PAWG thread.
