Have you seen the previews? Brody is Homeland. I called it and everyone was calling an idiot, just because I don't listen to podcasts or read interviews doesn't mean I'm not going to see the obvious.

Mad Men boring? Wow. Just, wow.

Mad Men is top 3 with The Wire and Sopranos
.

Im not going to knock Mad Men, because clearly it has its following. I know thecoli is never wrong, because they blessed me with so many show, but Mad Men mayne:bryan::bryan::bryan: I tried, I tried and a I tried and I had to throw it in the bushes. I kept hoping it would pick up by season 2 but :upsetfavre::upsetfavre: :yeshrug::yeshrug::yeshrug:

Mad Men is probably good but compared to other shows the stakes just seem extremely low that's why I have no interest.Old white guys doing their executive thing just seems Zzzzzz to me.
The Holy trinity of cable dramas to me goes Oz, Sopranos, the Wire. Right now Breaking Bad is probably the best thing on TV but it isn't in the convo for knocking off any of the three. Game of Thrones though:mjpls:

Yeah, I plan to watch a lot of shows via backlog. The cable drama game is just that piff.
We really got to thank HBO for giving every network the blueprint. Oz set it off, Sopranos took it to the main stream and The Wire perfected it. Thanks HBO:wow:

#1 The first thing the show has for it is incredible writing at the same level as Sopranos and The Wire. No show came close until Boardwalk Empire came on the scene.
#2 They catch the era which is after the 30's, 40's, 50's and before the 70's, 80's, 90's. If it wasn't set in the 60's the show would not be compelling. Think of the top 100 shows or movies, and the 60's will be a common theme.
#3 Finally to the real reason this show had fan fare, it was about Madison Ave and Don Draper. Neither, of these aspects disappoint.
#4 Storyline and characters are untouchable. Most shows characters are unforgettable if they don't make them an antagonist or protagonist.

Someone said Oz is part of the holy trinity. :beli:

1-Sopranos
2-The Wire
3-Mad Men

Every other show is fighting for the #4 spot. I think Boardwalk Empire takes the #4 spot easily.

Maybe its me....
But The Sopranos is not in my trinity
1. The Wire
2. Breaking Bad
3. Mad Men

The writing is just better:yeshrug:....The Sopranos gets respect because of the undeniable fact that TV changed the moment Tony sat on that couch...

As far as the new shyt....The Americans is miles ahead of that other shyt u call drama:stopitslime:....Boardwalk Empire is in the running because I like history and that period hasnt really been touched like that

Truth be told....TV drama started to go down when everybody started payin attention to the anti hero...When tony came out...there was no one like em...now every third drama is about some bol who did something wrong but still tries to lead a good life blah blah blah...Truthfully...I would be interested in the female antihero WAY before any more of this rinse and repeat shyt....
TV Show that we are all tuning into: Grislda Blanco circa 1977 rise to power in Columbia into the 80s miami crack era

Also, what is so underrated is that you need good writing and character development to pull off this highlevel shyt and theres only some many to go around...Vince Gilligan an David Simon dont grow on trees

Oz set off this entire genre of making derelicts of society the protagonist. Respect the original, shyt was flawless the first 3 seasons. When they killed Adebisi they should have ended the show.
