The disconnect between Nuggets GM Calvin Booth and HC Michael Malone cost Denver’s back to back championship run

Was Denver’s front office and coaching staff disconnected?

yup.

Those youngins are gonna have to help you now. Either that or hope you get a squad or vets on vet mins. Part of the success of the Nuggets came from getting apparently $22 mil of value from Bruce Brown at $5 mil or whatever he signed.

Look at the remaining teams and the common bond is they're getting value from either rookie deal guys or distressed assets for the low.

Boston's getting it out of Pritchard. Derrick White at $18 mil is a steal. Sam Hauser.

Indiana. The Siakam trade obviously was a big trade, but Nesmith, Nembhard, Toppin, McConnell, value so great they don't even miss Mathurin.

Dallas, got Gafford, Washington, Dante FN Exum. They hit on Lively. Those things mean something.

the 2nd apron makes it vital for those 2nd rounders you don't think much of to pan out, so perhaps instead of tryna hit a home run, get a guy you can plug and play.
And that seems to be what Denver is trying to do in drafting multi-year college players instead of raw prospects.

Re-signing KCP is going to put them in the 2nd tax apron, so they’re going to have to run it back with those young dudes again and hope they can figure it out.

Even when trying to list all the teams this man stopped at 3 out of 4.

Love the dedication to not being dedicated

I wouldn’t speak so soon as Minnesota is essentially in the same boat as well and definitely will be next season with all the contracts on their books.

I was just talking about a @tremonthustler1 continuing to not address the Timberwolves after it was his online identity for 10+ years between SOHH and The Coli

With this CBA, there’s no real way to go “all in” once you’re over the tax. Like they couldn’t have re-signed Bruce brown if they wanted to. They had their $5mil exception to work with and that’s it.

Trying to get cheap contributors in the late first/second round makes sense, but if they’re not ready for playoff ball they’re not gonna play.

I guess what Calvin is saying is to be humble in the midst of winning...

It also tells me that he's not too confident about in the roster they have to make him believe they could go back-to-back or become a dynasty (as some assumed) but it's like I mentioned in another thread about the Nugget's chances of becoming a dynasty...
Some might've thought the Nuggets but the truth is that their window is much shorter than believed as that Jokic, Murray, KCP, Gordan, etc lineup can only take them so far as we just witnessed last night

Despite Jokic's greatness, the Nuggets championship window is a lot smaller than we believe it to be...Denver's front office isn't known for spending big (letting Jeff Green and Brown walk makes that evident) and the new CBA is going to make things more difficult to win consistently.

Btw with the league being so unbelievably skilled the Nugs couldn't find a guy to hit an open 3? :gucci:
Julian Strawther on the bench can

Jay Huff us better than Zeke Nnaji and can shoot

Malone don’t trust young players

If I’m Calvin I’m kinda irritated
