Why are people still shocked that music artists use controversy to sell records? It doesn't have anything to do with talent. If anything, that's a talent in itself. Controversy doesn't work if the music socks. Madonna kissing the feet of a Black Jesus and dancing in front of burning crosses (in the goddamn 80s, no less) should've ended her career, but you couldn't deny Like a Prayer even if you wanted to.
