This would be like the Bucks retiring Ray Allen’s 34
There is a thread
Thought this was a continuation/re-up at first
He was special for the Nuggets
Melo will be a first ballot HOF player. What he did at Syracuse was legendary, he has Olympic gold medals and beautiful NBA career statistics.
He didn't do anything on either the Nuggets or Knicks that merits his jersey being retired.
I'm looking forward to this book being closed for good.
This would be like Atlanta retiring Trae Young number .
I mean he did lead the league in scoring once...Right cause Melo was just a regular lottery pick who had a decent career. It ain’t like he’s one of the greatest scorers of all time
lol at the idea of Jokic having to share a jersey retirement in Denver down the line - guy will have multiple MVPs, likely multiple titles and considered of the GOATs to ever play the game
Not reallySo was Dikembe Mutumbo
This shouldn’t even be a thread lmao
Jokic is the best player in nuggets history and already had a way better career than melo
Melo, as bad it sounds, prob won’t be remembered THAT fondly. Not like the Wade or Brons of his time. He’s still in the 1 % of the league, but he doesn’t have a pronounced enough impact to where the Nugs should feel forced to retire something for him, even if he didn’t share the number as their best player.
A way more interesting debate to me is if the Pels retire CP3’s number
