The criticism for the game awards are laughable

Anyone else think its so funny how much criticism there has been for Keighlys show because its not professional or doesn’t honor the devs, yet these same people refuse to watch the DICE awards, Golden Joysticks, BAFTA, etc? They are all shot live, on youtube just like Keighlys except there aren’t game trailers. Its exactly what people want, to see devs honored and long speeches and formal dress, etc..

It seems like everyone wants validation from the award ceremony for the same reason they criticize it. Because it’s big guady and its proximity with big hollywood/film industry. People complain about the ads and celebrities and game trailers but know damn well they wouldn’t care if all those things weren’t apart of the show. That goes for fans and other developers.

You don’t want to see a 10 minute Kojima dikksuck? There are literally a dozen other game award shows to watch. Yes honorees should get more time to give speeches but to act as if its an affront to the artistic medium of gaming is some bandwagon outrage shyt.

This is like how people pretend to care about crunch but then also get mad when developers delay a game.

It’s the general criticisms of the awards, not that these people in particular are important. The only thing i’ve read today are complaints about how badly they treat developers, how they don’t let people talk about “real issues”, how certain people get special treatment.

It just comes off as fake af

This year was excellent in terms of the games, but terrible as an actual awards show.
