what exactly did they fail on? Cause you havent stated anything specifically

It did relativelly well in 1999-2000 in Japan and even sold out

The problem was the UI was expensive to make at the time and killed their sales. Sony had the PS2 at the time and sega still sold more, but it wasnt enough to balance out production costs
Sega released multiple failed consoles before the Dreamcast. They lied to Sega of America about the existence of the Saturn because for some reason Sega thought their u.s. division was their competitors. Sega of America had no idea that the Saturn was in development, and were directed to work on the Neptune, which never released. This was done because Sega didn't trust Sega of America.

Then Sega surprise released the Saturn with no games ready, which pissed off 3rd party developers. EA vowed to never support another Sega console ever again over the ordeal. The Saturn was then abandoned, it was the 3rd Sega hardware that was released and abandoned quickly (32X and CD)
Not to mention that the Saturn was basically slapped together and extremely hard to develop for.

The Dreamcast was supposed to be a return to form, but they didn't have any security measures to stop pirates so games didn't sell. And by that point people had lost faith that Sega would continue to support their products.

It was a lot of factors but the main problem was Japanese Ego

- Multiple failed consoles diluting the brand
- Sega of Japan ignoring Sega of America
- Passing on the Sony co-dev
- Terrible 3D chip architecture of the Saturn
- The lawsuit over the Dreamcast chipset
- Japanese ignorance of piracy & GD-Rom
- No DVD in the Dreamcast
- Black Belt vs White Belt
- The biggest titles not on Dreamcast; Madden, mainline Resident Evil, etc

Sega’s failure was due to their poor choices before the Dreamcast ever launched. That console was their dying breath :mjcry:
:salute: on actually backing up a statement with facts instead of being a weirdo

Yeah this is def a laundry list of failures :wow:

@ bolded is a huge issue ngl tho. I def contrubuted to game piracy back then :mjlol:

I was collecting every dynasty warriors game like I was Thanos

Man y’all don’t remember that Saturn/PS2 E3 do y’all?

Sega pretty much kickstarted their own death on that day

now the Genesis games are on Nintendo Online :umad:
How much money do you think SEGA is making from that deal? :youngsabo:

How much money do you think SEGA is making by being a multiplat developer that doesn't have to worry about the cost of developing & maintaining console hardware :sas2:

Face it, SEGA won in the end... They making Booku Bucks :banderas:
