Is there some kind of way to start over? Ive only completed a semester of university and got suspended the other semester . They(university) want me to pay them for that semester . Im trying to go to community college in the spring . Do I HAVE to get my previous transcripts or can I start over? If I pay for everything out of pocket without fin aid, would that make a difference?

You can try for academic renewal, but it sounds like you aren't in good standings. They most likely wont release your transcript, which wont hurt at a CC because you can start over, but if you ever want to go back to any university then they will need all of your transcripts from ever school you attended, it doesn't matter what the grades were or when they were they want them. Paying out of pocket wont help you, so take the financial aid if you can. In my UCLA admissions Contract it says "You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance." so this can end up biting you in the ass if you dont get it situated.

Keep in mind, that if you decide to say F that school, and start over at a CC, apply and get accepted to a University without ever mentioning your first school, it is very possible that they will rescind their offer if/when they find out. Also, lets say you fool the Uni, you end up at transferring to a school like Harvard and graduate. If they find out about your first school they can and most likely will take your degree away for lying on your application. So I would advise that you contact your first school, and try to find a way where you only have to pay like 10% or some shyt.

I need some help here. I just got an acceptance letter from Howard University. It's for its graduate school (M.A in Economics concentration in finance). The only problem is that it's going to cost me 70,000 dollars for the two year program.

Background on my thought process

I rejected Howard University originally for ST. John's university undergrad, because SJU had more connections, bigger endowment, more resources, less student debt (SJU Scholarship vs 82k for Howard), etc. But a little bit of me has some regrets not going to a HBCU. Is the HBCU experience worth this debt? I have 16k of debt from SJU ( Dorming). I personally feel this is my last shot to get this "HBCU experience". I'll be 29 when I finish this degree.

For transparency reasons I've also have acceptance offers from:

1) Fordham University -Comes with partial scholarship, and it's only going to cost me 25k for the program. It has more NYC connections, but it has a horrible black population ( 3.9 percent). Going from ST. John's (20.1 percent black) to Fordham would probably be a culture shock.

2) Baruch College - Wouldn't cost me anything, plus Zicklin has great business connections. Good black population itself (12 percent), but it still wouldn't feel like home like SJU or Howard would feel.

3) ST. John's university- Not sure if I want to go to the same graduate school as my undergraduate school. The ability to tap into a different alumni association is enticing ( I'm already in the Tobin, and SJU black alumni association). I love my university with a passion, but I want to see something else. The student debt would be only 12k though.

Would Howard be worth it?

PS: I don't have an employer paying for this. I want this master's degree to improve career prospects and for myself.

I'd chose Fordham first then probably Baruch second :upsetfavre: Why do you care that much about the black population tho, you're in grad school not undergrad

Howard is worth it, if you can grab an Analyst position at a V10 firm, and they will be at your open house.
Definitely check out scholarship programs for Black MBA students, and look at the biggest banks in the US/the FedReserve/and Gov Internship positions (they're listed right now and there are a lot for Econ and Finance students w/ degrees.
If now Howard then Fordham. See if you can negotiate somehow for more money.

While I'm fairly sure I'm just going to say fukk it and go to Georgetown Law School, I'm thinking about this 4 year BS/MS program at both Case and Georgia Tech. AFROTC would pay for the full amount + I could possibly spend my four years of active duty here in the states working w/ a DARPA contracted firm, especially if I go with EE/CS as a major.

Don't tell me about learning on my own and codeacademy nshyt. I need actual teaching and deadlines. I need a constant kick in the ass or I'll just procrastinate.

Looking into Arizona St. online graphic information tech degree but only 64 of my undergrad credits will transfer and I have to take chemistry, physics and precalc... I suck at math:stopitslime: and standardized exams:why:

I say go to Georgia Tech. Case and western is a great university, but for engineering it has to be G- Tech.
