You really need to rethink that. You sound worried about having let people down but you haven't. College isn't easy, it's not supposed to be easy. It's a stepping stone for greater things in life. You need to get back on the horse and ride breh. It took me 7 years to finish and I have dinner friends that took 8, 9, and 10 years. I failed and repeated almost all of my physics classes, a few of my math classes, and a few essential computer science classes. Keep your eye on the prize.

Tell the people who want to see you walk that you're dealing with some setbacks and you have to push things back but you're still in it. You're in the unique position of breaking the hood curse. If you don't want to end up like those dudes then, quite simply, don't. Seize the opportunity you have because they're hard to come by. I mean this sincerely dude. Don't be a statistic.
can't even pass half of my classes, this my basically got kicked out my business program cus i couldn't pass a bullshyt ass math class twice and was told i only had 6 retake chances and i used them up trying to bring up my gpa like my bullshyt ass advisor said i should which fukked me over so since i failed a got a fukking 72 out of the 73 that i needed for one of my classes I'm basically fukked and can't do anything about it and go out a few post if you wanna read all about it i think i just need a break right now and to go to therapy since losing my father in december

Damn. I'm not tryna hear people tell me college is easy or not part of the real world from people who only graduated high school or CC anymore. Uni is legit on a different level. I have a greater appreciation for those success stories of people with children or a full time job on the side. Because I don't have either of those and I can't fukking seem to figure out proper time management yet. I attend all the classes, do some of the assignments early, study for quizzes, read some chapters, and still end up with doing multiple assignments at the deadline :mindblown: Like fukk when am I gonna get this shyt in check?

I remember how I said I couldn't wait to party and smash chicks and you guys went in on me. I get it now. But some how, this dude I know who I partied with the first week with seems to do nothing but party. He's in a frat and its his third year here. Dude be talking about skipping classes so he can make something and be asking me do I want to come like no nikka I got a math quiz :heh:. Then I got a friend who goes to a different uni but is a graduate and does nothing but party.

Like how do you guys manage time??? I need to fix my health because I had a hard time sleeping last night due to my excessive consumption of food I been eating since I been here lmao. shyt been hitting me hard. I stayed up till like 5 am last night woke up early as hell for a class, took a quiz in another class, then had a 3 hour class later on in the night. Now I'm waiting on excel to download so I can use it as a program in my class. And its fukking 1:45 am right now. I got to finish this
and read two chapters then answer some questions by 4 PM today but for some reason the professor ass removed the questions :damn: Like why would you do that bytch the assignment isn't due yet

you see i told you a few pages ago in college you either sink or swim. dont listen to these guys who are telling you they party all the time they either really smart, people who lie about partying and are really studying or people who are cheating their way through classes. had a few people in my class who were on bullshyt they dropped out in the end. make sure you dont slip up and stay focused and do shyt on time you dont want to end up repeating exams because you didnt study or hand in the work

maybe you should consider transferring to a CC.....that math class may be offered there. transfer what you have, get your associates and reset. getting that associates can help you get your confidence back then you can transfer back to a 4 year refreshed and refocused.

as for the people you're worried about disappointing, man don't worry about them. you gotta do this for yourself. formal education isnt easy for everyone, especially when they're young. if you don't have passion for certain subjects, or you question if this certain class is even relevant to what you want to do then it can be hard to focus. if these people care about you they will understand... you only fail if you are giving up on yourself. you CAN do this. its going to take you longer than you imagined, but if you want it it will get done.

do you know what you want to do in life ? come up with a plan and actually put it down on paper/type it up
just get that associates and go from there.

DOG ive been up since 9am. Had 3 classes today. One of em 3 hours.
Cleaned the apartment. Cooked. Washed clothes. Did some assignments.
Its fukking 4 am.

Ok, breathe deep. This your freshman year? Then again, if your boy is in a frat you are probably at least a sophmore.

Time management is crucial in college but you can't just work hard, you need to work smart. What time do you start studying in the evening? Do you have a study break during the day?

The best thing to do right now is to take this Saturday+Sunday to completely catch up on everything and then look at your syllabus to see what is coming up the following week. Read ahead on all of that. The work will still pile in but you will have a cushion of seeing it for the second time during class, etc.

Also, no offense, but waking up at 9AM isn't really that early. If you didn't party the night before, I would recommend being up by 7, 6 if you can. If you can get up at 6 work out, get breakfast and then hit the books you will be SO productive.

Are you in a lot of classes like history or English that require reading? You should read whenever you can then, on the bus, between classes, during a break before dinner, etc.

Cooking: If you have a decent sized fridge I would cook most of my meals for the week on Sunday night over two hours and then not have to worry about it for the rest of the week.

Would these help?

Yes call them and talk to your financial aid counselor. Also, idk what high school has to do with college credit. It doesn't. Unless it was AP or IB but it doesn't sound like it.

Also, you're about to spend 10-20k in loans a year to not know what your going to study and it's not like you have the benefit of starting as a freshmen and taking gen Ed courses for two years - you should have completed the first 2 years of coursework already in CC/JC. You don't have time to not know what you want to do .

Your better off moving to the state getting a job and stacking paper and reading some books and networking and figuring out what it is you want to do and then enrolling and attacking the coursework and opportunity when your ready. But you need a end game. This ain't checkers breh. This is chess. You're playing a dangerous game. I'm not discouraging you from going. But college ain't about getting away from home on the federal governments dime - which will turn into your dime. It's about academic success and bettering oneself holistically and professionally.

You got to know what it is you want to do. And attack. Your just walking blind and I've watched people rack up debt with that mindset and go right back to their shyt hole town 60 thousand dollars more in debt with no job.

Try to find what you want to do for the rest of your life and pick a major and start to grind. Man PM me because you sound like you need some help and aren't taking this decision seriously. College degree doesn't guarantee anything. It's competition out here.

Breh once again I'm not discouraging you from going I'm just saying know what it is you want and go get it. If you want to get out of shyt whole town we can recommend a bunch of cities and jobs for that. If you want to become an engineer, journalist, doctor, lawyer or analyst we can recommend a lot of majors and internship for when you start school and also study skills and methods that will get you academic success.
What can you recommend for a second year CC student transferring to four year next year who's interested in becoming a lawyer?

I'm a transfer/Junior. I really haven't hung out with the dude from the frat recently. He's invited me to recruitment multiple times but I swore I told this dude I either am not joining or don't have money like that. Yet he keeps on insisting when he can. I'm not gonna pay to make friends. I've actually joined regular clubs a couple of them just started and one I've been going to for a few weeks now and the people there like me and have texted me multiple times saying we should chill. So honestly thats the route I'm taking. Because the only benefit I saw of the frat was the hot ass females always around. There are a lot more positives from these groups, such as making multiple friends from diverse backgrounds, because I'm a man of many interests- instead of hanging with a bunch of drunk country listening white boys. I mean they are nice and I'd be down to drink with them once in a while, but when you know something not for you plus on top of that you gotta pay? lol

And yes the best advice you gave is taking this upcoming weekend to start over. I went out last weekend, then my school had family weekend so my family was here and it threw me off because I didn't do any work. Now I have a exam, quiz, and multiple assignments due within a few days. Its crazy just going out and not worrying about homework for 2 days can come back to bite you in the ass. I'm glad it was just me relaxing on the weekend and not missing a class period-trying to look at the positive lol.

And no offense taken. 9 am is early for me for the simple fact I go to sleep around 4 or 5 am. Because of homework of course, except last time. I actually had some time to lay down and sleep but my mind kept racing smh I guess cause I'm not programmed to go to sleep that early. But no I'm not taking basic classes really.
I'm taking college algebra, advanced media crossing, gaming and animation, economics, and data cloud computing "which I'm sort of struggling in and focus the less on." so its not like I'm in some classes like English where I just got to type up a paper. Like my advanced media class has me making a fan page of a non profit organization on all social media accounts, then I got to do research for that, then I still got to read multiple books for that class to answer questions, then I gotta promote my accounts to my classmates and I have to participate on theirs.

shyt is just time consuming. Then my family kept telling me I should use this opportunity to meet new people so I join all these clubs. I mean they are only like an hour each and they aren't everyday but that shyt adds up to extra time of a day being long as hell where I can't really make room for anything else besides those events and hw. Then my dad ends up bytching that it seems like whenever he messages me im always busying or doing hw. like my nikka its college.

Everything is going good besides like one class but thats just because I haven't had the time to study for it yet. which I will change because I'm going to actually use my wekends as valuable time instead of going out because I'm going to give up drinking for a good month or two. Recovering from hangovers is time consuming itself.

and oh yeah i need to get a loan.

but I'm always down for more advice if you have some. I don't know how I'm managing tho I guess its because I've barely been sleeping?
But fukk all that noise my ass will crash eventually if I don't get the proper rest.

One thing I learn tho is I enjoy the feeling of being to god damn busy to do anything... like yeah the pressure and worries are there.
but its wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than being that dude who has nothing to do at my age.

First off smart move on going to CC first and saving the money. Second, congrats on the 4 year decision.

My recommendations depends on how serious you are about law school?.. Stuff to think about what do you want to practice, what tier law school you're targeting, how high of a LSAT Score can you get?(How well you do on standardized testing)

The most typical majors for a law student are Political Science, English and History. The caveat is if you aren't crazy serious about going to law school these degrees are utterly useless unless you plan to teach. Now a smarter degree that if you don't go to law school but you still want a good job would be public policy or public administration.

Basically, you want coursework that will challenge and develop your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

+10 @ByAnyMeans said.

Also, you should take a class in formal logic (syllogisms, dilemmas, etc.) if offered at the 4-year. It is usually offered by the Philosophy Department. This will teach you formal logic and inference rules which are crucial in taking the LSAT.

Also if you need a job on campus, see if the school's patent/ip licensing office (if one exists) can give you a job. That looks awesome on resumes. Also join the National Bar Association (Black lawyer group) and American Bar Association as a student member.

Finally, if you want to do law SPECIALIZE. There are too many lawyers and the job market is filled with people so get into some kind of niche or lucrative law but that can wait until law school.

Good deal. Quick question: if you are staying up to 4-5AM what time are you starting? Also, get a tutor NOW for college algebra. You should not get below a B in that. Go to your professor's office hours for cloud computing if you need help in that. Are they teaching Amazon Web Services, Hadoop, or something else? Even if you can pay a grad student. Good on not listening to other people (like frat boys). Your school comes first. Get yourself established academically and once you are comfortable there you can worry about the parties and p*ssy. Not like they are going anywhere.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Reading, writing, critical thinking is kinda right up my alley. As for why I am interested in law for awhile now I kinda always had my mind set on me wanting to do something in sports managing, or some type of agent and I know guys usually don't have a law degree when they are in this position but I can still have my degree to fall back on if I ever wanted to switch up or things just don't go how I want them to. So I guess that would be my niche right now, and I know there are a lot of other opportunities pertaining to what people want to do after they get their law degree so I am open to anything else.

im currently competing in this program againts 9 other people for a full scholarship. They are picking 5 of us.
This semester is suppose to be the most important but its also my hardest one so far , taking Calc 2 , physics , an honors computer science class , and another computer science class.
