Got this question for my final essay in a final year philosophy unit:

Hegel’s notion of the state has often been criticised by political theorists for holding an organicist view of society. Such an organicist view, it is claimed, compromises the rights of individuals by subordinating them to the whole. Do you think Hegel’s conception of the state devalues human individuality and the rights of individuals?

Reading PhR §258-272, §308, §142-157 and (also) §34-54.

:lupe:

I love these types of q's. It's something I will really enjoy writing about for sure :blessed: but the douchebag professors never like my line of argument :pacspit: so I have a sort of love-hate relationship with philosophy at uni. Also my classes are full of wealthy private school educated cacs :scust: and you know they aren't checking for somebody like me. Going to class is a really shytty experience

I'm glad I only have two more units after this one to finish the philosophy part of my degree. I'm fukking sick of my university experience :mjcry: Thankfully philosophy is just my minor, I can coast through fine just getting pass grades, i don't have to do anything spectacular :obama:

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
Didn't get accepted into the schools I was aiming for, for a masters in statics. GRE scores weren't high enough. Combination of moving to a new city, starting a new job, and overall being rushed didn't help the process. It sucks to delay some of my goals for another year, but it's not the worse thing in the world. I'll be better financially, have another year of industry experience under my belt, and will have more possibilities for scholarships. Definitely strings though.

Does it make you feel some type of way being rejected?

2 more days, until I completely finish the CS portion of my degree. It doesn't feel real.

I graduated this past December with a bachelors and it honestly feels like 5 years ago. I probably feel that way because I was working 50-60 hours a week during that time.

Congrats on your impending graduation breh, hopefully you have a job lined up after you walk.

Everyone gonna make it brehs

What's yall study tips?

Start out the semester by buckling down one weekend and getting 2-3 weeks of reading ahead in all your classes. Just one weekend of just studying (ok maybe party/p*ssy in evenings). That way, at a regular studying pace, you will stay 2-3 weeks ahead and when you go to class you will be seeing the info for the second not first time. If you really need a good grade, study the book the summer ahead.

This will do miracles for your grades and preparation and you will actually have more time to hang out in the semester since you aren't pressed or desperate to catch up.
