Something I've noticed a lot in life. You want to understand what lies under the surface, then examine how the person has been moving their whole life. What were they doing before their current gig? What was their motivation? What was their technique?
They you look at what they're currently doing, and ask, "Has something occurred, a long, meaningful period of transformation, that has equipped them to mature and become someone different in life? Or are they basically still running with the same techniques and the same motivation?"
I discovered this analysis by checking out politicians and commentators, but it works for anyone. Grown adults can change but it is rare, and real change typically requires game-changing life event followed by a long period of reflection and growth. Most adults, even if they shift careers or switch up their outward persona, are running pretty continuously with the same motivation and the same techniques through all their endeavors.
