:mjlol: Wow I had no ideal! I tried to watch the wire but only saw about three episodes the first season because it's so many episodes I was overwhelmed but I'm about to go check it out.

I heard this show was greatly influenced by the wire and how the wire had a kids story line too but I didn't know they got that scene where Reg got shot from the wire lol.
Breh......

I should neg you, for all your annoying comments in defense of scrunchy voice and for not watching the wire. :camby:

I'll put it like this. The wire starts off "slow", but when it picks up it's fire.

It's legit just setting up the framework, for a very complex series. I had to go back and watch the series several times to fully understand what the premise of the show entailed.

The Wire absolutely shyts on The Chi in terms of acting and screenwriting.

Cmon breh, it's that essential? It really did start off slow and plus I planned to come back to it but I'll give it another try and be more patient with it.

I hear it's great but always just put it off.

Finally finished season 1 of the wire and y'all were right, I was tripping not watching this shyt :heh:I've been binging it for free on amazon prime since Sunday.

Was Baltimore really this bad? Were the police this corrupt? Like I wonder if this shyt was based partly off a real story or something the way it was put together so well. David Simon is a genius and I should have known because The Deuce is a dope show as well.

I also wonder how they knew to kill Wallace. Do they ever speak on that in season 2 or did they just suspect to kill him because the murder of Brandon had him spooked so much.

Also can't believe D'angelo was even gonna consider snitching :damn:

First off, welcome to the family. You're official now.
:salute:
David Simon based The Wire on his experiences as a Baltimore cop. Many of the characters are based on real people, and some of the actors (The Deacon, DeAndre Boyd, Snoop Pearson) are actually B-more street legends.

Also, R.I.P. to Robert F. Chew, aka Prop Joe. He was the acting coach for many of the cast members on the show.

This docks shyt is bugged out breh :mjlol:Also yeah it makes sense but that shyt was vicious, he was just a kid and those other kids who killed him was his boys but at the same time it's the life he was in.

The streets got no love :mjcry: On another note Michael B Jordan was destined for greatness being apart of this show though.

Thanks breh! Did my research and found out he used to be a police reporter and his writing partner for the show was a guy named Ed Burns who was a police investigator. Which makes sense cause the shyt seemed way too real and authentic in some spots where I'm looking at this shyt like :ohhh:

Found out he wrote a book called Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets and the show that was made from that before the wire was a show called Homicide:Life On The Street. David Simon also made a show before The Wire called The Corner which I have to check out after I'm done with this.

Nah no where close to The Wire. They tried it even calling it the "The" Chi now that I think about it lol.

Yeah. She was in Spike Lee's Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.

:dead::dead::dead:I kind of want to watch that movie cause it's a Spike joint I haven't watched yet but I don't know lol.

DEFINITELY check out The Corner. Just like The Wire, it is an authentic Baltimore street story. However, The Corner is based upon the real-life Boyd family (3 of whom had roles or cameos on The Wire).
Since The Corner came out first, it was just a miniseries. If you're into binge-watching shows, you can probably finish the whole series in a weekend.
