While I'm glad that Kev' isn't protected by OD plot armor, I hate to see him go through all this trauma and never really get the chance to address it (it's clearly designed to showcase the pitfalls of not confronting potentially debilitating mental health issues, but I was hoping for some type of reprieve eventually.). It doesn't help that the character has regressed tremendously altogether.
Also he's about to learn a rather hard lesson at the hands of his main homeboy--shout out to poppa, but my man is essentially just working on his podcast, simpin', and cashing checks at this point (a young Coli bruh in the making)-- and his rather annoying first love.
Jit is gone be a whole savage when this is said and done.![]()

I...so...Where are these nikkas going with this show exactly? It's regressed to the point that it's nearly flirting with "trauma porn" status (some might argue this already happened long ago).
Kevin: I have no words for the therapy scene. I legit thought the bolded was about to take place and some modicum of progress was about to be made. It turns out that all young Kevin needed was...freedom. No prolonged dialogue about the death of his mentor; no inquiries about his transition to an affluent school from one that serviced mostly minority, as well as poor and working class students; and of course, no addressing how him witnessing the brutal assault of his (Former?) best friend may be impacting him. Ah, who needs to decompress and wade through trauma when you have freedom.
Trig: nikka, is you bulletproof? How you pull up to a block you have no say-so on, and walk out unscathed...with damning evidence and a confession?
General critique: I won't reduce the writing issues solely to Lena being at the helm (I don't know if she is tbh.). Nonetheless, the show not only lacks continuity and consistency, but it also greatly lacks subtly. Consider the Netflix Series 'Dear White People'. By no means does the show always "get it right." But they don't beat you over the head with what's painfully clear; they write through it and allow for the viewer to infer:
Welp. Same time same place next week, bruhs.
