The wolves should be looking to acquire young assets instead of letting him walk.

Why does this somehow mean "pay crap that doesn't fit this roster $15 mil?" Even if you subscribe to the theory "well the money gotta go somewhere" it doesn't have to go to him.

At the end of the day, worst case scenario, Love's around for one more year, and then reevaluate your options (i.e. draft the next PF). Why pay that extra $15 mil to David Lee at 32 years old, banged up and disinterested? And don't get me started on Harrison Barnes. Like I said before, give me a paraplegic before you give me Barnes.

and since you didn't read the post you quoted, Love now would be Lee in a year, then random overpaid PF the following year, and so on and so on if you think the "better than nothing formula" works

Here's an idea. Keep him, see how far you get. If it's a playoff team, PERFECT. If it's not let him go, draft a PF in a PF heavy draft, now you have a situation where your only major commitments past that following year are to Rubio and Pekovic. Be a cheap team if you have to. Since free agency isn't an option, just reinvest into the players that don't suck for you. Sounds a lot better than spinning your wheels and pissing off the 3 or 4 good players you have left.
