Goofy drama shyt...
(there is a way to tackle this topic tastefully but this ain't it ....a "slice of life" show along the lines of inkwell 1994 would be better)
Right. Looks like some bullshyt that belongs on OWN. I was expecting a glimpse into the world of the Boule; not some goofy :gurl: type shyt :camby:

The black elite died out and the ones who remain are just as cash strapped as middle class white people. You have more upstarts like the Obamas stepping into places they thought were for their fair-skinned, white passing children. I’m not surprised LOG sold his book, he wasn’t earning enough chronicling the black elite. They also shut him down on writing a book about black conservatives as Republicans because they didn’t want that attention. Hollywood money would be faster and he’d have name recognition beyond a small circle of social climbing negros who read his books.

And I know this because I too am a (somewhat reformed) black social climber. I was raised by a single parent, too dark, dropped out of college, but still date their sons. They love to mention all of their degrees and Ivy League connections but they have just as little liquid cash as me.
It’s funny when you outperform these so called “elites” despite coming up through shytty conditions.

sigh
i'm going to watch this because I love the book but my expectations are low
I read the book a couple months ago and really enjoyed it

I'll give this show a shot
This looks like it shares nothing but a title.

Whatever it’s faults the book was fascinating and has enduring sociological, cultural, anthropological and historical significance.

Imma pass on this glorified soap opera.
